Star Wars Workbook: Kindergarten Writing and ABCs (Star Wars Workbooks)

Colorful and fun, with worthwhile activities
I would definitely recommend this book to any young Star Wars fans who are learning to read and write. The color pictures are engaging, and the activities are useful (not just letter tracing and writing, but also more creative activities such as mazes and color-by-letter pictures). My kindergarten son looks forward to our sessions working on this book together. There is some room for improvement (hence my rating of 4 stars out of 5):- The book does not have a lie-flat binding, so each time you turn the page, you have to smash and squish the binding so that the book will stay open and not spring closed.- Many of the Star Wars names used in this book are extremely obscure. I've seen all the movies (some dozens of times) and some of the TV shows... but I have never heard of about half the names (e.g., Luminara Unduli and Ki-Adi-Mundi) that show up on these pages!- Most of the activities are just one letter at a time. There aren't many activities that integrate multiple letters all at once (which is important for testing real familiarity).Nevertheless, we are enjoying this book and I do recommend it. We might even have to order another copy once we've filled out all the pages in this one.

Great for a little padawan
This is a simple book to practice handwriting of letters. It was a huge hit for my son. He is very anti handwriting practice, but loves Star Wars enough to get him to do it every day. Pages do not pull out of the book so that is a factor to consider.

Great review over the summer to keep the kids fresh and ready for the next grade
I used the full set of three workbooks this summer with my son so he could review everything he learned in Kindergarten. He really likes the Star Wars theme and will happily do his pages everyday in this one even though he doesn't like to do workbooks. Of course he got to earn time on the PlayStation by doing his pages, so that probably helped too. Each letter had a two page spread to work on handwriting and then an activity such as a maze or coloring by letter. Most of the reading in the book was too complicated for a kindergarten age student, but that is to be expected as many of them are not really reading yet anyway. We used the preschool books last year and we will most likely use the 1st grade books to review next summer as well.

Loved Em!
I'm a nanny and I bought these for my three 5 year old students (all 3 were advanced for their age and doing Kindergarten level work). All 3 boys love Star Wars and these were perfect. The range of activities were good because it was able to compliment all of their learning stiles and levels. It was challenging for the last advanced student without being to hard and still not boring for the most advanced student. The theme absolutely kept all three boys engaged and having fun with their learning.

Good, a little too repetitive
Appropriate activities, Star Wars themed. A bit too repetitive to be excellent.

buy them all
there isnt anything wrong with these books. the paper is a little thicker than newsprint and about what I would expect for a book like this and the $6 price. My son is working through all of the books on his own, He has decided to do 2 pages per day, sometimes more. Hasn't started kindergarten yet and he should be through the first grade level books by Christmas. Its not designed to be a replacement for school. While he is working on the books he doesnt ask for ipads or videogames.. he just wants to do his "home work" like his older brothers. If that isnt worth buying the whole set I don't know what else I could tell you.

Very happy with this book!
We have only had this book for a few days but I can already tell that it is awesome! I homeschool my children and my youngest is 5. We are at the beginning stages of learning to read and write. He is my reluctant schooler so I am trying to find as many fun things as possible. He is a huge Star Wars fan. We are a few pages in and he is loving it! The illustrations are lovely and any Star Wars fan can tell who they are. The work is perfect for the beginning of kindergarten. It is enough for them to get a good practice but not so much that half of the page gets left unfinished.

5 year old loves this book
my 5 year old son, who isn't a fan of doing workbooks, is totally engaged with this one. The StarWars theme keeps him interested and he will do 5-6 pages in one sitting, which is a lot for him. It's at a good level and may even be a bit easy for him. he is going in to SK.
