KRUPS: 2 Slice Toaster, Stainless Steel Toaster, 5 Functions with Cancel, Toasting, Defrost, Reheat and Bagel, Cord Storage, Silver

I’ve had this KRUPS 2-slice toaster for about 8 years now, and it’s still working perfectly. It toasts evenly, heats up quickly, and all of the functions—cancel, defrost, reheat, and bagel—still work just as they did when it was new. The stainless steel design has held up well and still looks great on the counter. The controls are simple and easy to use, and it’s been incredibly reliable with daily use over the years. It’s rare to find small appliances that last this long, and this toaster has definitely proven its quality. If you’re looking for something durable and dependable, this is a great choice.

I did a lot of research on toasters here at Amazon before deciding on this one. Reviews are all over the board for this and every other toaster. The biggest selling point for me was the generous size of the slots. I wanted to be able to put my organic seed bread in without having to bend it or shove it in. I also wanted to be able to fit a bagel in without shaving off some of it first. Everything I've put in this toaster has fit easily. The bagel setting does a wonderful job of toasting the cut side while warming the outside. The defrost setting is perfect for toaster strudels. It defrosts them, then toasts them so when they come out they are done throughout, and not still hard and cold in the middle. English muffins can finally be toasted in one pass instead of two or more. A complaint people seem to have about this toaster is that it gets too hot...it's an appliance so yes, it does get rather warm, but I've never had an urge to fondle my toaster while it is toasting, so there is no reason for the warmth to bother me. It also has a high-lift lever so you never need to touch the toaster to remove your item. The only drawback to this toaster for me is the settings dial, which goes from 1-6. I like lightly browned toast and to achieve that I have to go to 4.5, so the lower settings are useless to me. If you like dark toast, this will not do the job, but if you're fine with light to medium toast, this is a great choice. If this toaster lasts more than a year, I will up the rating to 5 stars. The longevity would make up for the lack of variety of the settings dial. **UPDATE** I've had this for over a year, and I love it even more. The settings dial I mentioned previously is actually totally dependent on which breads you use. If you was use a white or potato bread, you can get a nice toast on a lower setting. It has consistently made wonderful toast, bagels, english muffins, pop tarts and toaster strudels for my family of five. It gets used at least once a day, if not more, and the toast is fairly even on both sides (I've never had a toaster that was perfectly even in terms of toasting). I use the same setting day after day for my favorite bread, and the results are always consistent. It still looks shiny and new, it's easy to clean with the removable crumb tray and/or shaking it upside down outside. The cord is very long for a toaster, which I love, and it has a built-in cord wrap on the underside to keep excess out of sight. This is, hands down, the best purchasing decision I've ever made on Amazon UPDATE: It’s been more than nine years, and this toaster is still AWESOME! It toasts everything perfectly for everyone’s different preferences. This just might be my best Amazon purchase ever! Update 11 years later! This toaster still rocks! It makes perfectly consistent toast EVERY SINGLE TIME! I’ve had no problems with it at all. This was an incredible buy that has stood the test of time for sure! I still highly recommend!

Works great

My first non-coffee-related Krups purchase. Coming from a well-used (but suddenly shot) KitchenAide, which I loved. (Aside from dying and no longer available in white, it had a small crack, in its plastic.) So, my first new toaster in 1/2 dozen years, before which I was getting a new inexpensive toaster at the local drugstore or appliance store every 2 or 3 years before they croaked. I love reviews, data, and crowd-sourced ratings. Toasters seem all over the map in the reviews. Here's my take, after reading both raves and complaints about non-toasting, banded toasting, too much or little chrome-like finish, etc. etc. For me it's perfect. Features I love: I've not yet used the "defrost" but the others work perfectly, the "cancel" (leading to quick pop-up), "reheat" (works as advertised) and best of all, the bagel setting - and slots. Comes with a 2-year warranty. Perfect size (I was worried it's over-sized for my shelf). Nice appearance. Adequate-length cord with wrap-around storage area underneath. Weaknesses: None found yet. "Time will tell". Yes, it's hard not to leave a smear or fingerprint on front, as shiny as it is. But easy to wipe, too. Performance: Having read a comment about reading the instruction booklet - which suggests running a few cycles on high/dark setting before use, mostly to grill off any dust and/or avoid odor or smoke during first use - I did this. Nothing to see, but did it. My first test/use was with a nice thick New York bagel: perfect. I can't say if a bad run was corrected or the reviews just tilt toward complaints of bad experiences, but my worry about "banding" or too light, too dark, too striped, too whatever - unfounded. I used the bagel setting with sliced side (center) facing toaster center. I saw no sign of life from the outer coils - though they work fine as seen in my earlier non-bagel toasting cycles prior to use. I guess it uses the metal-sides for "oven heat" on the outer (non-toasted) bagel side while the centers are toasted as per the heat setting. My first try was with the 4 setting; I think I'll try 4 1/2 next time (of 5, each with a center half-step too). It was not "burnt" and was pretty much "medium" brown toasted, not quite "dark". No unevenness that I could see. This was with a seeded whole-grain bagel. If it's any different when I use a lighter, plainer bread, &/or if it suddenly changes to being uneven or impossible to set for proper toasting, I'll re-post with photos. In sum: I'm sorry so many had problems, though it's probably a relatively small number, and hopefully been corrected if there were any manufacturer issues. I am happy to put aside my worries about possibly needing to return, or unable to get a simple serving of nicely toasted toast like the good 'ol toasters. This is just about perfect, for me at least. It works. It works with the precision Krups is known for. I may even come to like its look; It provides some nostalgia in being a lot like my childhood toasters in appearance. It looks in RL like it looks in the description. Works like it too.

To get decent toast, you have to start at setting 4. Why even have settings 1 ,2 and 3 if 4 is where real toast begins. This unit has to be defective. Lower settings leave the bread white. Another thing, the exterior of the unit remains hot after the toast is done. Really hot. There's no way to remove the toast immediately without putting a finger on the top, where it's hot and then, push the handle upward. The toaster is simply too light in weight to raise the toast without raising the whole toaster. Surprisingly bad for a Krups product. I am shocked it's this bad. I've had three other Krups appliances, including a 20 year old toaster I'm replacing, which have been stellar performers. So disappointing.

El tostador nos encanto. Ya lo usamos en diversos settings y funciona perfecto. Tuvimos que correr varios ciclos de tostado al principio como decía el manual para eliminar residuos de polvo, etc. y debo decir que si tenia un fuerte olor a plástico quemado como decían varios en sus reviews, pero después de 3 ciclos, el olor se fue por completo y al momento de probarlo con pan, no lo apesto ni salió el olor otra vez. Los bagels congelados los dejo en el punto justo! La función de recalentar es fantástica, para un pan normal de sandwich, el setting perfecto es 3 o 4 depende de que tan tostado te guste, aun no he probado los niveles mas altos y bajos, pero tomando en cuenta todo, la apariencia y funcionalidad del producto es excelente! Definitivamente una compra que recomiendo.

Superbe appareil, se toute beauté sur mon comptoir, fonctionne à merveille, 1000 watts, super rapide pour la cuisson, tiroir à miettes à l'avant, très pratique, garanti 2 ans... Très satisfait de mon achat, merci beaucoup Amazon !!!
