I has these as a standard issue in the Corps. The quality is very good and is damn near the same as back 25 years ago. The size is the moving target. They are designed to sit high on the waist so keep that in mind. If you have really skinny legs and no butt then you most likely will not like these shorts. I am 6'3", 240lbs and am very active in fitness. I ordered a 38 based on reviews. The waist is big but the loop belt takes care of the extra room. The leg openings are just the right fit because I tend to carry more size in my upper thighs and hips. The butt fits really nice but does have some sag in the middle to lower. Not sure why but there is a sag. Bottom line - very good product but just have the expectations and know what kind of shorts these are supposed to be before you leave a negative review.,

I am happy with my purchase. The shorts run a bit small so order one size up from where you really are. I am a true size 34 and from the advice of others I ordered the size 36. They fit great with only a pinch of extra room on my waist. These shorts are very short and ride up on your hips exposing a lot of leg. They are made of durable material and have a single pocket on the right rear side.

Size 40 is really a 36. Appear to be good quality but sizing is way off.

So I got these in a 34, normally I wear a relaxed fit 36, thinking they'd be big if I got them in same size. I read the reviews that said it ran small but also considered how they're meant to be worn higher. However, I have a plusher backside than most guys, and thighs to go along, I failed to account for that. With clenching, I still couldn't get them over my butt and there was 0 space for my thighs. Besides that, they felt of good quality and material and I will be reordering them in a larger size in addition to updating the review to match UPDATE: JUL 31, 2021 Got the new pair awhile ago and they fit perfect. Make sure to get brief style underwear or equivalent if you plan to wear any at all. Haven't gotten them wet so I can't attest to how well they perform at their original job. Fit great, feel great, and the prive is good.

These shorts are based on the same shorts the U.S. Navy has been using for years, since WWII. Thats what I liked about them; the old school styling. I've seen reviews of these on another website, and ALL the reviews said the sizes run small and to order two sizes bigger than normal. So I did. I "normally" wear a size 34 in Levis. 34 is what I'm most comfortable in. Extra room. Size 33 is more of a "fitting" size, and size 32 pants I can definitely fit into if I'm going for that classic look, but I'm not entirely comfortable. These issues made choosing a short size difficult, as returning swimsuits is usually not allowed. I even went so far as to email the seller of these shorts and they have a %15 restocking fee for returns. I took the others advice and ordered a size 36. The sizing: Well, the size 36 do fit nicely around the waist. I can still fit a couple fingers in between my waist and the material, but it doesnt look sloppy or anything. Fits great. Around the waist. The leg holes are a whole nother story. The leg holes are really big and odd. I can fit my balled up fist in the bottom. The shorts are not lined with the usual mesh to keep your junk from falling out. If you're like me and you have big floppy balls, there is a big chance they will hang out the bottom. So you're going to want to wear some underwear or something. My girlfriend says the butt area looks "weird." I guess its "droopy." The shorts have one rear pocket. I am not sending them back to try a size 34, which may or may not make a huge difference in the leg hole sizing. Who knows. There is NOT a lot of info on the internet about how to choose the proper size sight unseen on these shorts. The make and material of the shorts is great. They are well made and worth buying. The shipping is pretty much the same price as the shorts, but for me, living in alaska, the shipping was like $24 for some reason!!! Another irritation!!! Had I known that I most likely wouldn't have bought them from amazon. So check the shipping rates if you live in a weird place. So, I would recommend ordering only one size up, and hopefully that will work out best for you. I ordered two sizes up and the waist is fine, a little loose, but not dumpy looking. I am going to keep the shorts, mostly because I don't want to pay the %15 restocking fee and I'm very impatient and don't want to go through the hassle. They do NOT look horrific on me and the leg hole issue is only really noticeable if you do a sumo squat stance. I'm not concerned about the butt looking "dumpy" becuasue I can't see my own butt and I'll be swimming anyway. But I pretty much regret buying them, just trying to make light of me paying $26 shipping and being too impatient to send them back for a smaller size. I hope this review helps as there is really no clear information elseware. Basically, you're just going to have to take a chance and write a helpful review on here too so others can be more informed. Had to return due to such a tight fit. My junk was way to tight and I have no idea how these navy boys wear these every day.

I bought these for my son as part of his Magnum P.I. Halloween costume. These are true UDT's. He is a 30" waste and I bought him 32" and they fit perfect so these not only are SHORT SHORTS but run a little smaller than usual. Better be brave to rock these. Really well made and have the feel of mil- spec, not flimsy or cheap.

These are great and fit well, as a professional diver and swimmer these work well. No shrinkage from washing, I ordered at my belly size and they fit well including around the legs. I see many talking about the size, these are old school style for navy divers, they are meant to be worn at your belly not waistline. Also they are meant to fit snug, because during training you are in variable climates in the ocean and don't always wear the scuba suit. Just some advice, measure at belly and work on your legs. Apart from that, these dry fast, allow great freedom of movement in water and on land, they also get more comfortable with washes and wear. Wash in cold water with minimal hard soap and line dry.

If you are a size 34 don’t expect to fit into these pants unless you like wearing hot pants. No I did not put on weight over Christmas. Sizing is a major issue with this pants. I tried size 36 and they were still too tight for my 34 waist. I would recommend you look at 2 sizes above your normal waist size. Example if you are a size 34, select the 38- unless you like wearing hot pants.

Diese kurze Hose ist etwas was ich die lange Zeit gesucht habe. Material ist hochwertig und basierend auf dem original-WWII-Muster was mir sehr gefällt. Wer sucht so eine Art Hose, die empfehle ich voll und ganz.

Been around the world twice, talked to everyone once. Been to three world fairs and even know a man in thailand with wooden limbs…. If you know the purpose of UDT shorts, you’ll be very impressed. I ordered a size up like most commenters suggested but it was too big unfortunately and they don’t sell all the sizes for some reason? Moreover, it seems like the quality has gone down a bit as the advertised material is %60 cotton and %40 polyester whereas what I received was %65 polyester and %35 cotton. Tan colour is in my opinion the best colour for the UDT shorts, followed by Khaki.
