Simtek Wireless Security Sensor for Guns and Storage, Security System with App

I bought this with the intention of using it in a safe, but with an upcoming cross country move, I decided to throw it in the trailer as an extra layer of security when we were stopped overnight. This may not be the intended purpose, but I thought it would be a nice stress test. It preformed quite well and alerted me every single time the trailer was opened. Additionally when an alert was pushed to the phone, I could also look up the devices coordinates of where the alert took place. Thankfully the move was uneventful and I did not need the alerts or location after a loss, but undoubtedly the information the little Simtek provided me would have helped a ton if anything bad happened. The only downside in this application is it would alert me to motion during the drive. I am not sure if motion notifications can be turned off, but it didn't bother me as I just muted the texts from the Simtek number on my phone during the long stretches of driving.Right now I have the device in a safe and it alerts me every time the safe is opened. Thankfully I haven't needed to use this information after a loss, but it works and gives me an immediate alert every time the safe is opened.The Simtek is reliable and works great. It's an excellent addition to the layers of security you have over your valuables. The only con was that Amazon shipped me a camo colour instead of black, but as it's always in a safe the colour doesn't bother me much anyways.Works as advertised! Highly recommended!

Sensor works well now, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. This was not the case upon delivery. After having issues, I emailed customer support on a Saturday night and received a response yet that night. By Sunday afternoon Simtek had developed a plan for me to further trouble shoot the issue (they had never had before) and after a few minutes my sensor was working properly.If your looking at this device you likely have 2 questions, how good is the signal. And how long does it take to get alerts. My sensor has 3 of 4 signal bars with the door open, 2 with it closed. Standing beside the safe my android phone has 1/4 of its signal meter. The push notification are as fast as googles nest cameras motion notifications. The actual text is significantly faster than googles emails, but probably 10 seconds behind the push notifications.

Support responded quickly when I had a question during setup. You enter your mobile phone number and email. It was quick to set up. A nice surprise is that they provide you with a 30 day trial before you have to pay for the monthly or yearly plan. The device sends out notifications to your mobile number and their app gets updated. The app is not a two-way live communication. Whenever there's a trigger of motion or light and the SMS is sent, the app also gets an update of the current status of the device. In other words, to get the latest battery life, make sure a recent trigger has occurred before checking battery percentage in their app. It provides comfort in knowing that what is being monitored, you'll get notified when it's being accessed.

Installed in my new safe a couple months ago and couldn't be happier with it. I love the extra piece of mind knowing when my safe has been opened. Highly recommended!

Easy to setup and easy to purchase the annual monitoring service.

If using an a area that has poor cell reception try a different product. This system only sends a message about 2% of the time where I installed it and the mesages come 3 hours after it was activated. Also it only sent messages for light sensor not motion. Would not recommend for relying on security for whatever it is you're looking to protect.

This device is really nice! Extremely easy to set up!! I needed something for my safe at a my cabin... The battery life on this is great!! Just charged it for the first time in 7 months and it wasn't even dead on about 33 percent.. The customer service department is GREAT!! I haven't had any problems with the device. I plan on buying another one soon! I would recommend this to anyone wanting a piece of mind!!
