We use this book on a recently completed trip covering most of Route 66. We booked accommodation as we went along, to avoid being tied to a fixed timetable. This book was very useful in finding suitable hotels at the end of each day, and also in finding suitable places to eat along the way. The only problem I found was that some of the addresses given were not recognised by our GPS, requiring phone calls to get the correct address. The spiral binding was very helpful for referring to the book whilst in the car.

It is a good book and has lots of good information to fill the trip. The only down side is trying to coordinate all this information with a current map (not an issue unique to this product). The spiral binding is great and the pages last well.

If you own this book, you'll have the option of dining in old or renovated old cafes or newer ones. The author has indicated whether it's an expensive place to eat or inexpensive. Very helpful when on a budget so there are no surprises when you open the menu. You'll also be able to choose a motel with all the modern conveniences or maybe one with a more nostalgic feel.

Travelers all have different taste in their dining and lodging; however it only takes one good referral to pay for the cost of the book. My son and I stayed/ate at several establishments recommended by this guide and enjoyed every night of lodging and every meal. We found the guide to be well worth it's cost and a good souvenir of our trip.

This "Guide" is the almost annual update of the very informative and useful "Route 66 Dining and Lodging Guide." This Edition, the 16th Edition, with a 2013 copyright date continues to be an indispensible guide for all travelers along Route 66. The current edition is highly recommended and contains many new places and updated listings. Pay a little extra and always buy the most current edition of this book. Older editions are available at lower prices, but dated. Buy the current edition and avoid missing the newest dining and lodging locations on "America's Highway."

A fun read. During our April/May 2014 Route 66 experience we discovered that, as with many establishments, they were no longer in business. However, the restaurants that we did come across at our mealtimes had "as advertised" road eats. The locals indeed eat there because of the copious amounts of food heaped on the plates.

This was a really helpful guide, after a long days drive it made it easy to find where to stay or eat. A couple of times we found our own options but mostly the book was our dining and lodging bible. It was really helpful to know a pricing guide too so that we could plan our route and where to go. Definitely a great buy for Route 66 travellers! Enjoy the apple pie milkshakes

It's good but I was expecting something a bit more modern in its appearance.
