Helps to alleviate pain
It's a neck brace. The thing is, if you need this, you're likely in a lot of pain and there's no real way to make you comfortable. So, taking into account the reality of this situation, I've had this brace for a while now. It is of very good quality. It is stiff, which is both uncomfortable, but necessarily uncomfortable. It needs to be stiff to stop my head from irritating my neck. So, It has helped to reduce the pain in my neck. So, due to the inherent discomfort of having to use this product gives it four stars I believe. If you have significant chronic neck pain, you're likely a little unhappy all the time. It's tough to deal with. The product itself is 5 stars.1. Durable. I've now had it for years.2. Stiff. Holds the head up effectively to reduce pressure on the neck. So, it's effective at reducing pain as well. It doesn't make the pain disappear. it helps significantly.3. Shaped about as well as it could be considering it has to work for a wide range of people.

Helpful Relief for Discomfort while Neck Sprain Heals
Years ago I had a similar soft collar that I wore for months after three months in a hard collar following a spinal fusion. For years I followed the recommended limitations designed to ensure stability of the fusion. A couple of months ago I found myself in a situation with no options but to lift a 135 lb person. Not smart, but sometimes you simply have to do what you have to do. After a week of increasing pain, I tried sleeping in the old soft collar, miraculously still around. After a couple of weeks, I thought it was helping enough that I wanted a new one, so I could trade off while one was drying after washing. I liked the features of the old one, especially the velcro closing that allows adjustment, and wanted one as close as possible to that. This neck brace by Vive was the closest match. At the time, Amazon only had it black, but I decided I could live with that; anything that would help with the discomfort! This soft collar is as described, provides comfortable support, and is easily slept in with no problems.I started to give it Four Stars, because it did not come with a removable stockinette covering that could be taken off and washed daily. I had some stockinette at home, and Medline MDT221204 Non-Sterile Tubular Stockinettes, 4" x 25 yd, Unbleached, 1 Roll can be purchased here at Amazon. I do recommend a stockinette or similar removable cover to go with the soft collar. In the end I gave this product Five Stars because of service from Vive. Almost as soon as Amazon had confirmed my order, I received an email from Vive telling me how to register the product for the guarantee, once it arrived. This was a necessary step because the collar was purchased through Amazon rather than directly from Vive. I considered that good service. This soft collar does not "cure" the discomfort of the neck sprain, but that is the nature of the problem, not a failure of the collar. The collar gives relief that allows me to accomplish "activities of daily living" while the neck sprain heals over (some extended) time. It does what it was designed to do and the company has provided good service. Five stars.

Good but needs longer adjustment for big people
Not really for phat neck peoples but seems quality otherwise. 17.5" down to 15" is probably right. I can wear it but I can also feel my vessels attempting to get flow to my brain. I think a Velcro extension could work

Support is great, but fabric is scratchy.
Bought this to use on an airplane trip, and it works great for head support when sleeping on the plane. But wow, the fabric is definitely uncomfortable. Will have to see about wrapping it in a soft scarf or something before I use it again. But it definitely takes up much less space in my backpack carry-on than those bulky u-shaped neck cushions.

Still Great After 7 Years
I'm in my early 40s and I have cervical spine issues that cause pain in one of my arms and numbness in my hands if tilt my head forward for very long. It's still manageable as long as I don't look down for extended periods of time. Considering how much most of us look down at our phones these days, it's easy to loose track of how long we have actually been looking down at them. Then all of the sudden I realize I have overdone it when I get the unpleasant but familiar tingle in my left arm and hand which is the precursor to numbness and pain.I had no idea that I had any kind of spinal issues until roughly seven years ago when I started having severe pain in my left arm and hand. Eventually my doctor ordered an MRI and that's when I learned that the pain in my arm was originating in my cervical spine due to nerve impingement. Long story short, one thing I needed to do to help relieve the pain and numbness was keep my neck straight as often as possible. That's when I bought this collar.I've used this collar countless times over the past seven years. I wear it a lot around the house. Especially when I'm sitting at my desk working and when looking at my phone for extended periods. I also wear it on long car rides when riding with colleagues to the airport or to meetings. It's great for sleeping in vehicles or planes even if you don't have neck problems. The collar is firm and holds my head up great. Even after using it for so long it doesn't seem to have lost any rigidity that I can tell. It's comfortable and easy to clean. I steam it and wipe it down occasionally just to keep it fresh.I'm buying another one of these just to have an extra. I have tried other brands and they do not support nearly as well as this collar does.

Perfect after disc replacement (NOT FUSION)
I got my wife one of these after disc replacement. It provided the perfect amount of support and comfort. This is NOT suitable for folks like me with a disc fusion. Get one meant for that.
