Great product information you need should know
As a licensed plumber I had been looking for something for a long time to recommend to my customers to keep the ring in the bowl, so I tried the product at our house first myself to test it out before I decided to recommend it to my customers,.and I have to say it works really great and it does keep the ring out of the bowl. Now Fluidmaster recommends replacing the cartridge every 3 months, however it varies from household to to household, it all depends on how often the toilet is flushed. I wish they would have recommended the amount of flushes for each cartridge rather than months. if you're Flushing a lot more often than usual I would recommend replacing the cartridge every 1 1/2 to 2 months as it can run out before the third month. I replace ours every two months in my household. With that said you will just have to monitor it check the cartridge from time to time see how fast it's dissolving to determine when it needs to be change it out, but the product works really great and I do recommend it to my customers. (A little disclaimer) here, we personally have a water softener with a water conditioning system at our home. If you have really hard water and you don't have a softener or conditioning system at your home the results May very. I don't have enough data on that yet to make that determination vet. Another common question that a lot of my customers have about the product is, does the chlorine going to affect the parts in the toilet tank itself? and the question is NO the way it's set up in the toilet tank it diverts the chlorinated water into the filush valve tube and down into the bowl on each flush so the chlorinated water only goes into the bowl not the toilet tank itself. And this product is very easy to install. Another question I get will this work on any toilet and from what I can see it works on just about any toilet I haven't come across one yet that it didn't work on.

Easy and effectively keep toilets clean and odor free for 3 months
Who likes to clean toilets ? No one... There are dozens of products that claim to make cleaning the bowl easier. Blue pucks, stick on jells, things like that. In my experience, the blue pucks just look pretty, don't last very long and just don't seem to do the trick. Likewise the stick on jelly things don't work any better, are hard to apply and some smell so strong, you'd almost (almost...) prefer a dirty toilet. Well this product is completely different. This is made by Fluidmaster, the company that makes a huge majority of the toilet flushing mechanisms (in the USA at least). This alternative system REALLY works! And since its from them, you can feel confident its not going to damage the internals of your toilet. The system comes with a holder for the cleaning insert that is easy to install. Simply disconnect the hoses that exist and reconnect them to put this in the path of the water when the tank fills. The instructions on how to do this are very easy to follow. Then just install the canister containing the chlorine (and maybe other chemicals, I'm not a chemist) and you're done for 3 whole months! At the end of the 3 months, simply unscrew the cartridge, install another. Easy peasy. I've had this for almost 6 months and am completely satisfied! Of course the toilet still gets a little dirty, but not often and a simple swish or two with a toilet brush every few weeks is all you need. Switch to this system today, you'll never go back to whatever you did before!

Useful to help keep the toilet clean.
The dispenser is easy to install. The cartridge is easy to plug into the dispenser (although you should wear gloves). It dispenses bleach into the bowl with each flush. The dispenser is connected to the refill tube and feeds the bowl from the overflow pipe. The advantages of this over tablets inserted in the tank is that the bleach won't just dissolve over time but rather by each flush. It also doesn't expose the tank parts to bleach (bleach in the tank itself can damage the parts, causing them to need replacement way too early). I had previously used the blue cartridge versions for this, which is basically a soap. Those don't work well for me anymore (they seem to have changed the formulation) so I switched to the bleach ones. They do have a pretty distinct bleach smell which is a little strong but not too bad. There is not a dye in the bleach cartridges, so the lack of the smell is how you know you need to check/replace them. Bleach cartridges seem to work well in keeping the toilet clean. The bleach in the water keeps organics and bacteria from growing.

These suckers work!!!
I am blown away!! I’ve lived in this house for almost 8 years and I have been fighting with the toilets and keeping them clean. I literally have had to clean the twice a week to keep them looking presentable. I have tried pretty much everything. I didn’t want anything that would ruin the inside of my tank or mess with the septic system so I avoided drop ins with bleach but knew that was what was needed. So I found these and I kid you not, I’ve gone a week and a half without having to super scrub my toilets. I am beyond thrilled! I like a clean toilet and this is the way to go.

Too expensive - specially the refill, but works like wonder. This is not suitable for use in Indian Flush system as the overflow pipe is usually not available and I had to modify the same to get it working.

This kit is not readily available in Canada, but fortunately Amazon vendors sell it at a reasonable markup (considering it is shipped from the USA). It's an excellent automatic toilet cleaning system as it does not damage the rubber seals in your tank with chlorine (my Toto tank actually has an explicit warning stating not to use chlorine cleaners). It "splices" inline with fill hose so that the bleach solution bypasses the tank altogether (via the overflow tube) and fills your bowl after each flush while the tank is refilling. Installation is very simple, and the bracket is plastic so you can trim it to fit your tank if necessary. Ensure your tank lid seats fully to reduce flushing and filling noise. It functions as intended but I cannot assess effectiveness yet - I am hoping it either stops or slows the growth of the pink bacteria ring. There is a faint chlorine smell when you first lift the lid, but nothing too offensive IMO. The water level in my bowl has not changed. 3 month update: True to their word, the original chlorine tablets have completely dissolved after 3 months. This is on the primary toilet for two adults. I have not had to clean my toilet for the same period, and there is no pink bacterial growth whatsoever. This is an excellent upgrade as I was cleaning our toilet every 2-3 weeks due to the ring of pink bacteria. Refills: The replacement cartridges are not readily available in Canada but you can replace the tablets yourself with 1" tablets. To gain access, you can pry the bottom cap up off the cartridge with a folding utility knife and tap or pull the cap off. The original cartridge contains three 26x16mm (ie 1”) tablets and each weighs 11-12g (~34g net weight). The tablets contain DCDMH, boric acid and chlorine per the package label. However, the SDS for the refills indicate that the tablets used to contain 7-13% chlorine (89415-87-2), 40-70% BCDMH (16079-88-2) and 15-40% DCDMH (118-52-5). Fluidmaster likely originally used this chlorine-bromine blend because pure chlorine may be too acidic and/or odorous, but switched to chlorine only tablets due to costs? Regardless, for cheap refills, I purchased Azur Spa bromo tabs (~$50/1.8kg or 60c each). These tablets are 30x18mm (1.2") and weigh 20g. To fit these into the cleaner, cut the "lid" off the cartridge, remove the foam piece, and drop three tablets directly into the holder (instead of refilling the cartridge) - see photos. You now have 60g of bromine (compared to 34g of chlorine) that should last longer, be less acidic and smell less. Flow has not been restricted and there does not appear to be any downsides to this, but I will provide an update if that changes. Hope this helps.

Great product, keeps the toilet clean a longer period of time. However, the bleach refills are very expensive, twice the price, compared to the blue refills. And currently only one seller has them.
