Bought on nov 2019 and still loving it.
LONG REVIEW BUT REAL EXPERIENCE: I bought this in November of 2019 and wanted to wait a while before writing a review. Overall I absolutely love this robot! It saves me SO MUCH TIME. I have experienced some issues with this device but the pros def outweigh the cons. And they are listed below. Mapping feature: PRO: I live in a two story home and the device is able to map both floors with ease and allows me to mark each room so that I can pick which rooms/areas it cleans. CON: obv you have to move the device upstairs/downstairs but sometimes the device gets confused which floor it’s on. Ex: I had the device upstairs but it could not locate itself, and when it did the debot thought it was downstairs so it started following the downstairs map. Really annoying because sometimes it wouldn’t clean and it would just keep saying “locating”. Took a week before it fixed itself. Mopping feature: PRO: it’s nice to use if you don’t feel like mopping because it honestly does a decent job with it. CON: the mop job is not THAT great of course because it’s just gliding a wet cloth across the floor and it can leave streaks. Alexa feature: PRO: “Alexa tell Debot to start cleaning” “ok” CON: “Alexa, tell Debot to vacuum the living room” “Sorry, I don’t know that one.” Tip: make sure you take care of the device. In order for the vacuum to be most effective you need to make sure you take apart the pieces at least 2x a month to clean and dust it and wipe- VERY easy. Make sure you pick up the room/areas before cleaning. Especially cords! Deebot loves cords! Also when moving the Deebot and it’s charging station up and down the stairs ALWAYS place it in the same spot as you did previously. If not, it will get lost and start creating a new map instead of cleaning. Other experiences: the Debot is very good at sensing drops and has not fallen for me. Occasionally, dust will build up underneath the machine and it will say it’s drop sensor is blocked and won’t move. Just flip it over and clean it. My upstairs has carpet, tile, and laminate floor and Deebot has no issues with transitioning. My downstairs is all tile with an area rug by the sofa. Deebot cannot make the transition onto the rug. I am thinking because it is too thick. Even when I pick it up and place it on the rug it acts like it’s on a platform high above the ground and it’s too scared to move for fear of falling lol it’s annoying but it just means I need to whip out the regular vacuum to hit that small spot. One issue I do continue to encounter is the error message “Laser disk sensor is blocked” I cannot seem to figure out the cause or solution Overall I have a dog and cat, both shed heavy. This device is saving my so much time and helping my allergies. The battery life is good and the cleaning job is fantastic!

Good idea, poor implementation.
I have two of these units, purchased in Q4 of 2019. Both would run a few times a week when new, but now I set them to daily. Battery life is still decent, although they take a long time to recharge. The software is decent, and does a nice job mapping. It will occasionally lose the maps and transpose them over another. The only fix to this is to delete all of them and start over. The biggest issue is the laser. It randomly stops working and tells me it's blocked and needs cleaned. I've taken the entire machine apart to clean it, and it didn't help. The best way to check is to remove the cap over the laser (4 screws, two under rubber stoppers, and a few springs that go underneath). Neither of my units were dirty, but probably had an issue with the quality of the motor they are using. These clean hardwood/tile/etc fine. Terrible on carpet unless it is just on the surface. I still have to get out the big vac to do the rugs. I won't buy them again, at least not from this company.

So far, I am very pleased with the mapping capabilities of this robot
I have owned several Roombas over the last 15 years, but they have never lasted more than 1-2 years each, which is an issue at their price point. A year and a half ago, I purchased two of the inexpensive Deebot 79s's, and have been very, very happy with their performance. The only issue with one of them was that it had difficulty navigating the edge of the stairs and would stop and cry for help. Other than that, they generally outperformed the one Roomba I have remaining. Given my happiness with the 79s Deebots, I wanted to purchase the 920 for its mapping capabilities. I've had it now for over a month. Despite some others complaining about the app or difficulty connecting it to Wifi, I had my 920 set up on my network in about 15 minutes, and it had voice prompts to walk me through it and a quick start guide. You just need to make sure that you are connecting it to your 2.4 wifi and not the 5ghz band. Once 920 was connected to my network, I let it map my upstairs, which it did flawlessly. I just made sure that additional wire and junk were off the floors. It created a nice map on the app, which lets me set up virtual boundaries and define specific areas to clean on a schedule, if I like. Where my 79s's happily bumbled about and took an hour to an hour and a half to clean, 920 does the same space in about 40 minutes. It goes in efficient patterns, and never has an issue finding it's base. I love this thing. And when I'm at work, I can see on the app where it is and what it has cleaned. The only con is that the dustbin is very small, even smaller than the 79s's, so it has to be cleaned frequently, but it only takes a minute. You also have to make sure to keep the brushes clean, but that is true of any of these robot vacuums. I haven't used the mopping feature, but this bot cleans my plush carpets and hardwood floors very well, so that I don't have to vacuum them myself. So far, if it doesn't fail, this is my favorite robot yet, and the one with the least hassles, as the mapping feature makes sure that it cleans everything everytime, and finds its way back home.

Great first robotic vacuum. Pleased so far.
So far this robot has been good. Would like to touch on a few things that were wonderful. The amount this bot picks up is amazing. Two dogs and picks up the hair like magic. Smart robot that is gental with my furniture and can navigate very well. Goes over my 3/4 inch thresholds very well, never gets stuck. Goes in a nice pattern making sure not to miss anything. Does okay with bathroom rugs and floor mats. Sometimes gets stuck others pulls over them like a champ. I have a sprawling 2050 sq foot ranch with cleaning area almost 1300 sq ft, about half carpet and half hard surface. In standard mode for suction with auto boost on for carpets I got almost 90 minuets of battery. In standard without auto boost, I got almost 110 minuets of run time. In quiet mode without auto boost, I got 144 minuets with battery still left over with the robot cleaning the whole home. In quiet mode it still picked up quit a bit. Does very good in the dark and under furniture. Although this robot is taller than some, it can get under two of my couches that are 4 inches off the ground. The app is great to auto schedule cleanings and what areas you want cleaned. I have it set to clean heavy use areas where people and dogs stay most of the time to twice a day (allergies require hair to be picked up often, and Huskies shed allot, but wont get rid of the dogs). And the auto schedule works great. Starts on time and I dont have to worry about it. The no go or boundary lines work well. Needed to set a boundary line for my sons gaming chair, the robot would climb the base and get stuck. Have not had any issues with cords but they are all hidden behind furniture because ya know kids! I love that i can see where the robot is on the app and where it has cleaned. I have not had any connectivity issues. Let me start this by stating I use the orbi mesh router with a satellite on the opposite end of the house. For the individuals complaining about the 2.4 internet, it's actually better because it can go longer distances and is better through walls and obstacles keeping the robot connected better. The issue is not the robot getting it to connect, its your phone that dont want to connect to 2.4. The simple work around is turn off 5g at the router and reconnect phone to the wifi. This is accomplished easily by going to the router and looking for the routers webpage. Type it into a computer and u can adjust the router. Once connected to the 2.4 the app works flawlessly. After connected you can turn 5g back on. The robot will stay connected to the 2.4g and ur phone will not need to stay connected to 2.4 for use of the app. This is just for setup. This works even if 2.4 and 5g share the same name. Now for some negatives. I had to run the robot several times to get the area map to work. I finally had to delete the map, set the robot to quiet mode and remap the entire house without needing to recharge. Worked perfectly. Have the area map now on the map. The robot does have some issues returning to the base sometimes. I have noticed when the room the base sits in is dark the robot has issues finding the base. Also if the robot"finds" an object in the way back to the charger it will get lost. What I mean is, we have a certain divider going into the room with the charger. Although the curtain does not touch the floor, the robot will sometimes see this as a block that it cannot pass. I just have to remember to open the curtains. The dust bin is slighlty small, and I have to pause the vacuum during cleaning to dump the bin, but not that big of an issue since it's super easy to take out and dump. Integration with alexa is not great. Does not show as a device but can still control via voice once the skill is enabled and account signed into. Must call the robot deebot, does not go by given name. I see this as a negative because it could cause confusion if there are multiple robots. The voice control is limited but I do not see myself using alexa much because of auto scheduling and the limited voice control, cannot tell alexa to only clean certain areas. I have not tried the mopping feature yet. So far very happy with this purchase and the ability to not have to vacuum my floors multiple times a day due to dog hair! This is the first robotic vacuum I have owned so I cant compare it to any other. But does a decent job of getting dirt and hair so I dont have to vacuum multiple times a day.

Incredible vacuum
This is an amazing robot. I returned the cheaper iRobot 675 after sheer frustration and replaced it with this unit, I couldn’t be happier. It is extremely well built and very intelligent. It is very easy to empty the bin and open the bottom up to remove hair. It maps your house and cleans it efficiently. It can be scheduled to clean the entire house or just areas. You don’t need extra hardware like iRobot if you want to put up barriers, the app allows you to draw barriers on the map it creates of your home in the app. You can draw a barrier on something as tiny as a dog bowl and it will go around it with precision. It’s also remarkably quiet, I have it scheduled to clean 3 times a week on the Standard setting early in the morning before we get up and we never hear it. It tells the difference between carpet and hardwood floors and automatically increases suction on carpet. We have a 1900 sq. ft home with 3 bedrooms and an office. The bedrooms are carpeted and the rest of the home is hardwood. It will clean all but half of the last bedroom in one charge, it will return to the base, charge and clean the rest of the last bedroom. It’s an awesome machine.

I just 2 1/2 years, the lidar has failed twice - do not buy
UPDATE #4: DO NOT BUY THIS! I purchased the Deebot 920 from Amazon on 12/02/2019 and had to have it repaired under warranty less than a year later in October 2020. Now, just over a year later it seems my Deebot OZMO 920 is back in the same state and giving me the warning: “My laser distance sensor is blocked, please clean it” with the notification of "LDS malfunction. Please check" Just like before, I tap on it and it does nothing to correct the situation. I have also tried to do a reset, and still the same issue. I have a support ticket open but I am guessing they are going to tell me I am out of luck. How can this be so defective. UPDATE #3: Seems my refurbished unit is also having issues. First, the date and time are off and I am told that to fix it, I have to factory reset the unit and lose my map. First of all, this is so amateur. Who doesnt provide a network or even manual date/time sink. Second, I wont reset and loose my map because getting the map setup on the first use is really a pain in the ass and another amateur design flaw. You can only set up the virtual walls while it is working on a job. So yeah, you have to then babysit it for the first couple hours as it maps out your home and then you can set up the virtual walls. Super lame. As much as I like this robot, I would seriously suggest that you look at other options. After 10 months it really has gone downhill. I cant imagine this thing lasting more than a couple of years which is super lame. At least the Roomba that it replaced ran for 5 years before it fell apart. UPDATE #2: So after a few weeks of miscommunications through email, I got a prepaid shipping label (thank you) to ship my Deebot back. After about another 1.5 weeks, it was returned and I now have a new refurbished deebot that is working perfectly again. I am happy that at the end of the day, they were actually pretty quick to get it repaired. UPDATE #1: It has been almost a year and the Deebot's LDS system is failing. Keeps asking that I clean the laser distancing sensor, which I have. I also asks that I press it, which I have also done. I even spent a lot of time Googling this issue, which is actually widespread. One redit thread said try factory reseting it, which I did, and it worked once. Now, factory reseting does nothing. So I contacted Deebot cause it is still under warranty and they give this prolonged email thread which I have prove to them that this thing really is defective. It has been a month now and they said they would replace it (or maybe fix it). They said they were going to send me a box to ship it back to them. Then I get another email telling me that perhaps it is parked too close to stuff. It is not and I have picture to show them. Old review: Upgraded from a 4 year old Roomba that slowly lost its mind and became unusable. Wow, it was like going from a 1990 Buick to a Tesla. Really impressed with the quietness, thoroughness, and suction. Unfortunately it is not perfect (even though I am giving it 5 stars). It on occasion loses its mind too and wanders around a room looking for it's dock on the other side of the house, bumping and turning and never making it out of the room, even though the map shows the robot and the docking station. Finally it runs out of power and dies. I am guessing the software is not actually using the map to help guide it when it needs to get back to the station? There is definitely a glitch. Still, it is light years better than our old Roomba.

Solid vacuum ruined by app
Avoid ECOVACS unless you are looking for incessant frustration. The mapping software is unbelievably poor and creates significant issues in terms of function. This is supposed to mop, and it is supposed to sense carpet. The carpet sensing works well (shows up on the map with good fidelity) but the mopping program ignored this information. The system also refuses to break rooms in a useful way, and any room that has a transition between carpet and hardwood flooring will confuse the system such that it goes back and forth over a 2 foot section until the battery dies. This could be 60 minutes mopping (drenching) the same spot! The ‘fix’ for all of these issues is to delete the map and start over. After you create the map once, including all the stay out regions where the system gets stuck, you will understand that this will consume more time than using a regular vacuum for the rest of the year.... Until they update the app to allow room boundaries to be properly managed, you can forget about using this in the auto mode. You have to monitor it the entire time which effectively eliminates the point of a robot vacuum. Should have bought another brand - this was a large waste of money. Real shame because the suction is good.

"I'm starting to clean"
"I'm starting to clean", I heard a voice whisper breathlessly, penetrating the fog of my fatigue induced slumber. I knew it couldn't be my spouse. I was dozing on the couch after a long, colorful day of Covid-19 work from home (WFH). Upon hearing her suggestive assertion, I rolled over to peer at my son, who had been cutely/incessantly whispering "Pew pew pew", surrounded by a sea of Lego Star Wars. "Watch out," I mumbled. "Roomba is going to suck up all those legos if you don't move them", I parented. He paused and said, "This isn't Roomba, daddy. This is Deebot!" He reminded me that Deebot 920 had the capability to program "no fly" zones via a handy app, so no separate units were needed to "block out" areas with precious legos. I rolled over just in time to see the Deebot veer away from my son's playroom, dutifully following the map it had scanned of the second floor of our townhouse, using its 3.0 laser navigation system. It was day 30+ of the shelter in place orders, so the entire house was a mess, actually. I idly considered whether I needed to move Deebot downstairs to clean up after a small party we had had a few days ago (don't worry, everyone yelled at each other from 6 feet away, and the NP swabs from testing still lay disgustingly outside our front door). Since Deebot had multi-floor mapping, all I would need to do is relocate it and let it scan the new environment before it recognized the other floor map. I marveled at how Deebot varied her suction power (get your mind out of the gutter, please) as she rumbled across hardwood and on to the carpet under our dining room table, sucking up cheerios, potato chips, and rice bits on the floor. She automatically adjusted for the difference in surfaces, reducing power (and volume) if unnecessary. I was able to hear our Alexa chiming an alarm as she continued on her way, reminding me it was bath time. I asked Alexa to cancel vacuuming and Deebot cycled down and started making its way back to her charging cradle. I was impressed at how reliable Deebot had been over the past 6 months, logging over 50 hours of service and thousands of square feet cleaned. The app control, multi-floor mapping capability, intelligent navigation, dual swiping hands and easy to empty dust bin had made our lives much cleaner during the shelter in place order. "I'm starting to charge", she declared. I was thankful for her robot work, and I think you will too if you have a smaller multifloor townhome, a kid with too many legos, and the Covid-19 blues (leading to unnecessarily floral reviews). Highly recommended!
