Great in my media server
It's the same brand as the ones already installed in my movie server. These are made for, and work well in a media server NAS.

Just What I Needed
I recently installed two of these drives in my new Synology NAS, and they're just what I needed. A good blend of performance, capacity, and price. Thus far they've performed flawlessly, they're very quiet, were super easy to install, and I have no complaints at all. When my NAS requires upgrading, I'll be looking to the Seagate IronWolf NAS Internal Hard Drive in a larger capacity. I'd buy this drive again, and recommend you give it a look if you're in the market for NAS drives.

Solid Drives
I have been running these drives in my QNAP TS-453Be NAS for 11 months now and they are great. I work in IT and run a small data center. I did a lot of research and these drives appeared to be a great option and they don't disappoint. No drive issues would be 5 stars but these type drives are a bit noisy when they are busy. Doesn't bother me because my NAS is in basement with my switch gear but might bother some if sitting on your desk.

DOES NOT HAVE A 5 YEAR WARRANTY
Do not buy this product! This is a scam! They claim quite clearly its "backed by a 5 year limited warranty". Well the drive failed in 2 years, which was quite surprising, I go to get an RMA from Seagate the manufacturer of this product and low and behold I see that it lists the warranty as expiring early by several years with the serial number I typed in. So now I can't get the warranty honored, and Amazon is saying there is nothing they can do, which is outright pathetic because they say since its past 30 days they can't return or refund the item. Well the same situation happened at Walmart.com and they actually will honor the 5 year warranty, so it says a lot about Amazons customer service and business model.Whats going on is likely they are purchasing these drives in bulk and letting them sit in a warehouse. At the point of sale when Seagate sells to Amazon, the warranty is engaged, however there should be a distinction between the retailer and a customer. So basically Amazon buys these hard drives, they sit on a shelf for 2-3 years, you buy it, and then you get whatever warranty is left over. I'm sorry but this is illegal and is false advertisement and I won't stand for this! I don't care you are some mega corporation and I'm the little guy, this isn't right.Buy beware! Buy at your own risk. Better to buy from Seagate directly. Also be aware that Seagate recently got really bad reviews in a Hard drive study on reliability, so this is all a very eye openning experience. For some background, I'm an IT professional so I know what I'm talking about.

It works perfect
After 60 days running on a Raid 5 NAS configuration it works perfect. Data Transfer is about 250Mb/s from PC using a 2.5g eth usb adapter.

Perfect and easy. and reliable
Bought this as an upgrade to the external drives i get at Costco for $150 that always seem to last only 2 to 4 years...This drive is rated for 1Million hours between failures (Hope i read that correctly!).Do get this model that ends in 008 vs the 004 as i read that this model has a larger cache and is a bit faster.I placed it in a Synology 1 bay NAS DiskStation DS118 (Diskless) enclosure and it worked right away!MUCH MUCH faster than the external drives on a USB with lower reliability drives..

If you want speed and security, this is the hard drive you need to use.
I bought 2 of the same ones to put on my media server.

Not "New" as promised
I ordered the 10tb Ironwolf NAS drive for our home media storage. From the moment I recieved the package I was skeptical that I was sold a new hdd and not a refurbished one. The package was a simple brown box with a small label sticker identifying the drive name and model. The foam packaging cushions were fine but the mylar bag was simply taped closed from the top. Nevertheless I installed it. The drive immediately began making loud noises without even writing or reading data. I returned and asked for a replacement which Amazon provided. The replacement drive was in the exact same type of packaging except this time the small label sticker which identifies the name and model was stuck on top of a previously used label. Suspicious, I still gave it a try.The second drive did turn on and operate quietly however every now and then it would make loud searching noises reminiscent of old floppy drives. Warranty or not, I was not going to trust 10tb of my data on this thing.I have returned the second drive as well, done some research online and still find the Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives to be highly reviewed for home media applications. I decided to try one last time through Amazon but ordered the 4tb model this time. The 4tb hdd arrived in different packaging than the others. It had a much more professional label on the box, upon opening there was actually a "Seagate Limited Warranty" booklet, the hdd was secured via fitted cardboard enclosure (as opposed to being wedged in between two egg foam cushions), and the mylar bag was actually heat sealed and clearly never opened from the factory. I now have NO DOUBT Amazon sold me a refurbished hdd listed as new for over $250 not once but twice! This 3rd hdd (4tb) had been whisper quiet so far and I don't expect any issues since it is by all appearances actually "NEW".Pay close attention to the hard drive you receive. If the hdd is secured with egg foam cushions and is in a mylar bag folded over and taped shut, you likely got sold a refurbished drive for the full price of a new one... Send it back, dont let Amazon sellers get away with that kind of fraud!
