Good deal.
This is an awesome knife. It’s multi purpose for camping, hunting or survival and it looks fantastic with a nice leather sheath. The shipping wasn’t bad. It took about a week or so but I was kept informed. Good price for the knife in my opinion. I would recommend getting one. If you’ve wanted one like I have for so long.

Awesome knife
Awesome knife just got it, came very sharp with no blemishes to the blade. I like the weight, feels heavy duty. This is my first Ka-bar knife and it lives up to the reputation.

The Knife That Makes My Camping Gear Look Embarrassed
I have been using pocket knives and smaller tactical folders for years, but this KA-BAR stands in a league of its own. I bought the straight edge version three months ago, mainly for heavy-duty field work on my rural property—tasks such as batoning medium-sized firewood and clearing tough, overgrown thorny brush that mocked my machete. This knife not only cuts; it confidently dominates any task at hand. The renowned stacked leather handle offers an excellent, non-slip grip even when wet, and the 1095 Cro-Van steel maintains an edge much better than anticipated for a knife designed for rugged use rather than delicate slicing. It’s a legendary tool for a reason, merging history with pure utility. Regarding value for money, it’s an incredible bargain. Many custom knives with similar steel and construction would cost three to five times more. You are acquiring a piece of history and a tool that will outlast you. It sets the standard by which all other fixed blades are measured, making it an essential addition for any serious outdoorsman or collector.

A very good knife - Came razor sharp out of the box.
The first thing I find about this blade that makes it different from so many others, is that it is made in America. That alone already sets it apart from almost every other knife. It does come with a sheath, which is made in Mexico. Out of the box, it was nearly, if not razor sharp. The spine is somewhat thick, meaning it's not going to be incredibly good for cutting (In that its not designed specifically as a performance cutting knife), however it is still easy to cut with. After roughly 5 inches (starting at the hilt) it strongly tapers into a Clip point, although it does not have a sharpened false edge, which would improve piercing/stabbing capabilities. Although I can see why they do not do this, as in some US states, that would make the knife a "prohibited offensive weapon". The knife is very sturdy, and it has no loose parts. There is a very slight cant to the right, but it is within 1 degree and is thus of no concern. Its HRC is 58-60, which means that it is very hard. KA-BAR states they use 1095 Cro-Van steel 1095 Cro-Van - It is based on 1095 steel, with the addition of small amounts of Vanadium, Molybdenum, Nickel and Chromium. In layman's terms, it will have Improved wear resistance and toughness compared to 1095. For those interested in the Metallurgy of 1095 Cro-Van: 1.1% Carbon, 0.6% Chromium, 0.06% Molybdenum, 0.25% Vanadium, 0.25% Nickel, 0.5% Maganese, 0.25% Silicon, 0.025% Phosphorus and Sulfur Overall, I'd highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a high quality, general use knife. It is made in the USA, is very well assembled, and holds its edge very well. One thing to note, is that you will need to oil the blade to keep it from rusting over time. All you need to do is wipe it after use with a dry soft cloth, and lightly coat it with some form of oil - KA-BAR recommends Mineral Oil, although Petroleum Jelly [Vaseline] works very well. If exposed to salt water, the process is slightly different - Wash the knife with mild dish detergent, rinse with tap water, and then wipe it with a dry cloth, and put the lite coating of oil on. I'd recommend that after you oil it, you should put it in the leather sheath. The leather will keep residual oil and help keep the blade coated when it is not in use. Some other users have mentioned that in the plumbing section of hardware stores, you can get #15 O-Rings, which fit into the grooves in the handle, which they say improves grip. I have not tested this myself, but I plan to.

USMC KA-BAR
I just received my KA-BAR straight edge combat knife today. And it was everything I expected.Upon opening the box the knife was in perfect condition with a razor sharp shaving edge. I honestly did not expect the blade to be so sharp especially with some of the negative reviews I have seen. The knife is solid and well made. Be cautious carrying this in the rain as the leather washers on the handle will swell and degrade when exposed to constant moisture. Blade is 1095 high carbon which means coat with oil to prevent rust when not in use. You will love this knife for what it is. I paid 49.00 and it is worth every penny. it's interesting that they are now 60.00 on amazon two days after my order so if your on the fence now is the time to buy, before they get higher. As I said mine is in perfect condition with no flaws whatsoever. The sheath on the other hand, is a cheap leather made in Mexico, dont expect much. It will work but there are better out there. My personal is a Hedgehog leatherworks. Very expensive at 250.00 however, it comes with fire starter and pouch. sheath is also made to ride in the small of the back in a scout ( horizontal position) on your belt. not flopping around on your belt slapping against your leg. I know the sheath is expensive however it has a 25 year (lifetime replacement) if it fails in use. Dont worry it is a one time purchase, you will never need another. Its beautiful and made specifically for the 7 1/2 kabar check them out at: Hedgehogleatherworks.com the sheath without the fire steel and pouch is 200.00 and worth it in my opinion unless you can make your own, or know someone that does quality leather work. You will pass it to your grandson as a family heirloom I promise you. As far as the knife goes, you can get a lot more expensive but probably not much better in the class of knife it is. In this political climate they will only become harder to get and more expensive. It. is a piece of history after all.

KA-BAR I could literally kill a bear
To read a complete review go to [...] Just received my new KA-BAR USMC Fighting Knife in the mail a day early might I add. I felt like a kid on christmas I was so excited. I should have added gift wrap option just for the extra excitement. Once I opened the box my jaw hit the floor and my eyes started tearing up. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen next to my fiance. Now down to business. Knife came razor sharp out of the box with a fine point tip(I dropped the knife and the point grazed my shin and the point poked my shin right thru my jeans and sliced my shin and blood streamed down, I couldn't believe how sharp it was). I also shaved a patch of arm hair off with a single stroke. The coating on the blade is amazing no blemishes at all, feels smooth to the touch and you can tell this blade will last for years to come with no rusting. The USMC stamp is great. I feel honored to be using a knife that some of the greatest warriors on gods geeen earth made famous. Leather washer handle fits my hand great and feels good too. Even though I live in the Greater NW and the Kraton handle would probably have been more practicable for wet weather climates, I just had to stick with the Original handle. I feel that this will last years to come if taken care of properly. The sheath is great also. Even though it was made in Mexico it is still extremely sturdy, and great stitching. The leather is a lot thicker then I anticipated. The Marine logo is nicely stamped in the leather and once again I feel proud to wear it. Overall the sheath is really nice and sturdy. I cant get over how thick the leather is. The leather is a little stiff so I applied a couple applications of Saddle Soap and boy did it make all the difference. The sheath is super soft and it also helped remove/hide some of the creases in the leather, and it also brought out a nice dark brown hue in the leather. Overall I give this five stars and would recommend this to anyone who needs a sturdy fixed blade fighting/survival knife, it will last you a life time if used/stored properly. I feel like a total BA just holding this knife. I also plan on buying one for my Marine Brother-in-law with the Operation Iraqi Freedom commemorative for Veterans Day. The prices Amazon has makes it affordable to give as a gift or to just buy one or two or even three just to have. I will also be purchasing the Ka-Bar Short USMC Fighting Knife with the Tanto Tip. I can't wait to pass this knife down to my Son when he comes of age and then see him pass it to my Grandson when he comes of age. What is also nice is you can have the blade engraved without ruining the blade or finish. This is going to make a great family heirloom for years to come. Thank you Ka-Bar and Amazon!!!

Awesome survival knife
I got this KA-Bar knife to add to my bug out bag and so far so good. It's well made and comfortable in my hand. The grip itself is well designed and I'm confident that it won't slip. It has an element of nostalgia from my USMC days. I have a few trips planned and this'll definitely be along for the adventure.

Well-Crafted and Genuine
First, I had been considering buying one of these for years. I'm coming at it primarily from a historical interest mindset, as well as that of a knife enthusiast. I finally decided to get myself one of these incredible blades and do not regret it for a moment. I fell in love with this knife as soon as I took it out of the box. I feel badly for some other reviewers who must have received either lemons or cheap knock-offs as the knife I got was absolutely genuine. It is razor-sharp right out of the box. I tested it out on the padded mailer it arrived in and sliced it clean through with almost no effort. The knife is heavy but wonderfully balanced and feels great in even my small hands. The blade is stamped with "Ka-Bar Olean, NY" on one side and "USMC" on the other. The USMC leather sheath it came with seems a little bit small as when I tried to slip the knife into it for the first time, it left small marks on the belt loop but this is a minor issue, especially considering the sheaths are only around $10 here on Amazon. You can see those marks if you look closely at my photos. I looked at what others have said regarding care for this knife and I coated the blade with a very thin layer of gun oil to keep it from corroding and treated the sheath with a beeswax-based leather conditioner I used with another leather knife sheath. The latter is mainly to keep it from drying out. I have only had it for a day or so, so time will tell if this works, though I think both will be fine. (If the blade looks a bit "shiny" in the photos, that is due to the gun oil I had just applied). I have little doubt that this knife will last forever and can stand up to far worse than any use or abuse it will ever see with me. One last note...a good way to make sure your knife is a genuine Ka-Bar is to look for the globe and anchor USMC hologram sticker on the box, of which I included a photo. There are a lot of fakes out there!
