The Flintstones - The Complete Second Season

I have been a fan of The Flintstones since I was a baby. Absolutely love them!! My favorites have always been the episodes pre-Pebbles and Bamm Bamm. As I've gotten older, I've grown to appreciate them even more because a lot of the humor was actually over my head as a kid. Although I've noticed that with most cartoons, especially the Looney Tunes cartoons. You really do have to experience them as an adult to really get it fully. The programs were so very clever especially the way they used animals as appliances or whatever. The expressions and some of the songs were so funny....I mean who can forget...."Keep your hobby hubby, keep your hubby happy, when he's a little chubby, he's the happy pappy.....with Glockenschpiel!!!" I also love the episode when Barney wins a houseboat on "The Prize is Priced". Fred and Barney couldn't decide on a name for the boat so they took the first three letters of one name and the last three letter of another name to come up with NAU-SEA!! You can't tell me people aren't influenced by this stuff since I can attest that I saw an actual boat last summer with that name written exactly as it is on the cartoon, hypen and all!! Yeah, I love this stuff. It's just a lot of fun and who can't use a good laugh in these pitiful times!! Go for it!!!!!

I loved this show as a kid and now my grandson is hooked too.

Season 1 and season 2 are the best seasons because they are B.P. (before Pebbles). The season 1 and season 2 episodes are clearly tailored for an adult audience - which is what the cartoon was intended for. The Flintstones was the first cartoon to be shown on primetime TV.- Friday evenings at 8:30pm. The first half of season 3 is also good, but the episodes in the second half of season 3 are written around Pebbles impending arrival and finally her birth. The season 4 thru season 6 episodes were clearly yailored for a younger audience and the timeslot was changed from 8:30pm to 7:30pm.

I can only say each time I watch Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty in action. Its amazing how much fun no matter how many times I watch...they keep me laughing. Especially when Fred convinces Barney into mischief that he knows gonna cause Wilma and Betty to retaliate as wome always do. Perhaps my favorite one is "Las Vegas" when Fred cannot wait to get to sin city and on the way, keeps the girls and Barney fearing for their lives. Well, could go on but as all can see, this is well put together and I love the boxset and its designs. Thanks again Amazon for keeping the good stuff rolling. Ive never been disappointed...Miss S

The 32 episodes here were a joy to watch. Quality is excellent & suitable for the entire family. I found myself watching the episodes to detect the different artists at work. This was due to one of the bonus features that talked about the different artists. I mean I've watched the credits, so I knew there were a lot of artists invoved but I had never realized that they differed so much from episode to episode. The bonus features really abound on this set with audio commentaries in three episodes. Bonus features include Songs of the Flintstones album, old commercials & some rarely before seen artwork. Warner Brothers has done an outstanding job assembling this set.

Just as I remembered them! I absolutely love the Flintstones, in particular the early episodes. I an still amazed at the sophistication of the stories. Despite the fact that some of the social realities are dated (e.g., Wilma becomes "the happy housewife", asserting her independence, only AFTER she and Fred argue over money - the fact that she is financially dependent upon him is a throwback to another reality and time), the story lines couldn't be written better. They are a reflection of American cultural values (and stereotypes) located within a stone age context. The stories and characters/actors are witty, the humor is incisive, and I adore them.

This is one of my favorite Animated Series and I am glad I got each Season in a separate box, better Packaging. It seems like it gets better with each year, every Episode is beautifully restored and Looks and Sounds Great! All the 32 Episodes in 4 DVDs have that Old Big Band Theme Song, no singing the Familiar Song here, that changes in the Third Season, I did Posted the Lyrics, however, Old Theme Song or New I enjoy watching the Flintstones and the Rubbles with their childish Plots and Pranks, they are a lot of Fun!
