Meinl Black River Djembe, Small

If you're looking for a great Djembe, I recommend this one. I love this beautiful, quality, handcrafted Meinl, large mahogany djembe. It has an awesome sound and is so satisfying to play. It is worth the price. Now, if only there was a drum circle near me, then my life would be complete. Lol

I bought this drum for a college class that required a djembe. It produces pretty good sound quality, and is really well made, especially for the price. The drum is sturdy/heavy, which helps with the sound quality/quality of the drum overall, but tough if you need to carry it around for awhile like I did. The shoulder strap was really helpful for carrying the drum, though it did also dig into my shoulder after a few minutes of carrying. Overall, the drum is great quality, and has decent portability! It's definitely bigger than I anticipated, but the size helps keep you from hunching over too much when sitting down to play.

I was looking for an inexpensive and easily portable djembe and I’m thoroughly satified on the quality, use, and design of this particular one. Sounds great in small to large spaces and works well for a full acoustic worship band. It looks just like the picture and I love the material it is made out of. I’ve had this for a month now and it is very sturdy. However, one thing I am concerned about was the rope’s stability. The top seems to be falling apart (the rope used to wrap around my shoulders for transport) but I feel that it can be easily fixed with super glue or of some sort. This does give me some anxiety but I also purchased the warrenty just in case so hopefully it doesn’t worsen! In conclusion, definitely worth the investment for it’s price!

I didn't know what to expect because of the low price. I am very happy I took a chance on buying this drum. I belong to a drum circle and the sounds I can get from this drum are amazing. It has great high sounds on the rim of the drum and a nice base sound when striking it in the center. The only fault is that it did leave a black mark on my pants after the first . I read that in another review and thought it was a fluke but it was true. I don't wear light clothes now and it did only happen one time. The stain did come out in the wash but I am still going to be careful. If you are looking for a good drum case to carry it in make sure you get the dimensions of the case because the one I bought was a bit too big and I had to use styrofoam to make the drum fit. Happy drumming folks.

The djembe is well made. Excellent sound straight out of the box. Finish is very good and it looks very nice! My kids also enjoyed playing on it. Note that the head is 10”. It is small hence there is a little bit of bass in open and slap tones as well unless you play on the rim. If you want to play for enjoyment, this is a very good instrument. If you want to play with proper technique get a 12 or 13” djembe.

Received on schedule, ready to play. Being made of wood, this is a very solid drum. The drum skin arrived well-tuned, and the instrument offers a resonant sound. I ordered the large size, which is perfect for an adult player.

Bought as a Christmas gift for someone. Drum seems fine, solid construction and has some weight to it. Biggest issue is that the top of the drum face which is supposed to be white is all scuffed and stained. Looks like the seller sold me a used drum. Not happy with this at all. Considering returning it.

Good drum. Buy it if you can get it at a discounted price.

Plutôt joli, de finissions correctes pour le prix, mais décevant au niveau du son de basse. Il n'y a pratiquement pas de différence avec les autres sons. Pourtant la marque Meinl est une référence en la matière. A voir à l'usage quand la peau se sera un peu détendue....
