Because I couldn’t possibly write a review for each of these books individually, this is a review of the original Fever series (books 1 through 5). Not only would it be too difficult to review them on an individual basis, but it just wasn’t going to happen because I couldn’t stop long enough between books to even be bothered to write a review. I devoured these books. This is so not my cup of tea. I’m a traditional girl. I like believability, relatability, and normalcy. I like original and unique stories but ones that could happen in real life. Fantasy or paranormal? Usually, we don’t mesh. This series is definitely an exception. It did have drawbacks. It was long, at times very drawn out (mostly toward the end), and thoroughly confusing. I know it was the author’s intention to keep us guessing and on the edge of our seats, but it got to the point where I had hardly any idea what was going on and it became frustrating. There are so many different facets to this story, so many unnatural laws at play, that it’s hard to keep everything straight. The game is constantly changing, there’s so many players, and the board is unfathomably large. Every time you think you’re winning, Moning has rewritten the rules. But in her defense, it does keep you interested. You become desperate to know what happens. You root for good to trump evil and you rethink what it means to be either one. I was so drawn in to this story and the unforgettable, gripping characters. Mac and Barrons are damn near perfection. Their chemistry is like nothing I’ve ever experienced between two characters. This is the ultimate slow burn. It doesn’t get any slower and hotter than these two. Their tension is so powerful. They make you feel so much by doing and saying next to nothing. They are unforgettable. Take a step out of your comfort zone and read these books. You need to experience this world and these characters. Karen Marie Moning’s imagination is a work of art. I think if my brain was capable of creating a story of this magnitude, I’d go insane. It’s probably why she writes. Lucky for us. Review: Loving this series - Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning is yet another outstanding installment in the MacKayla Lane Novels! I really enjoyed the first one, Darkfever, and Bloodfever was just as good to me. I can really get into these novels and lose myself for a few hours. I love the characters and the whole Fae world that comes with reading these novels - I am definitely addicted to this series. Bloodfever finds Mac still on the search for the infamous book - the Sinsar Dub. She now knows who murdered her sister and is out for revenge but that has to be carefully thought out and planned. In the meantime she is still keeping company with Jericho Barrons and still managing to get herself in trouble. The only difference now is that she is aware of all the dangers around her or is she? It is possible that even Mac can be surprised by where life leads her in this installment. Mac also learns that there is a whole sect of women just like her - sidhe seers. They want her to join them but Mac is still keeping her options open. She wants to get all the players lined up and know exactly who and what they are and what they can do in regards to her. Can they kill her with one slip of the hand? Can they put her in a trance where even she doesn't know what's real? Mac lives in a really scary world right now that keeps coming up with more to keep her on her toes and just hoping to stay alive. I really liked how Mac grew in this novel from a spoiled, living on easy street girl to the darker, much more interesting Mac. Don't get me wrong - I liked Mac from the beginning but it's interesting to see her changing into this other person. She goes from an experience of pure heaven in this book to one of pure hell and comes out alive. She has a very dark side that she is just starting to explore and I look forward to reading more and seeing what she does with it. I also loved that she took a stand against Barrons this time around. I'm hoping in the next book they begin to get even more of a working relationship with each other as I'm actually rooting for the two of them to end up together. I'm also looking forward to learning more about Barrons. In this book we find out more about him and there just seems to be so many secrets revolving around who he really is and just what he's after. He is definitely after the Sinsar Dubh like everyone else but there seems to be something in his past that is very intriguing and that also keeps me turning the pages and looking forward to the next book. As with the first book, Bloodfever also ends on a cliffhanger leaving me desperate to keep reading. The next book is Faefever and I can't wait to get started on it and see where it will take Mac on her journey to find out who she really is as well as seeing how she learns to control the power she obviously has. This is a great series and one that I would absolutely recommend for those who love this kind of fantasy read. Beware though - it is totally addictive reading!

Perfect, ideal, flawless. KMM does it once again. I'm an addict. Her novels always make me feel alive. Once I start, I can't put them down.

I still think this book needs something, it is good but too much talking and explaining to be a full novel, I was with the mind that it was romance but is not, so not going to find romance in this book, maybe soon-ish? Keep in mind that this is a story told in retrospective in 5 parts as far as i know, its like reading a diary and you just find part of this story at a time, meanwhile it is a good writtsn book, entertainig and if not the best series i've read, it is still good and i will continue reading it. And i do recommend it to celtic paranormal, fae lovers, it is so unique C. C.

I went straight into this one at the end of b2, & while book 1 set it all up—b2 blew me out of the water! WOW! This was action packed & an absolute page turner! I read this book in 24 hours because I couldn’t put it down. the ending was 🤯🤯🤯 Also this is the slowest burn reluctant allies to lovers / can I trust him? That I have EVER READ!

I am loving this series! I love Mac and Barrons scenes and their funny banter! There are more characters introduced in this book and a few revelations. This was a great read and look forward to reading the next book.

I (for the most part) really liked book one of the Fever series, Darkfever. But it was more for it's addictive feel and potential for greatness in the rest of the series that held me firmly in its grasp. Bloodfever sees the start of that potential realised. Mac is changing, growing from that kind of spoiled, shallow Southern girl in to someone who can keep herself alive in a world where Fae are constantly trying to kill her. Or, at least try and keep herself alive. She's still got a long way to go. I found Mac much easier to like in Bloodfever than I did Darkfever. Her continual growth impresses me as much as it makes me like her more. She can be selfish at times, but she doesn't pretend to be otherwise. She knows it and admits it. She screws up, she doesn't trust people when maybe she should, she assumes a lot of things when sometimes she shouldn't. But she doesn't pretend to be someone she's not. I find her oddly refreshing and thoroughly entertaining. I completely adore the growing chemistry between Mac and Barrons. The way they play off each other is exquisite at times, in a very brash, in your face kind of way. I kept finding myself wishing for more of them together on the page because most of the very best moments of the book are the two of them together, whether they're agreeing about something, fighting with each other, fighting other things, doesn't matter. The two of them together are just fantastic reading! Bloodfever is a great continuation of the story started in Darkfever. There is further exploration of the world Mac's found herself in, more and more questions popping up that I desperately want answered. And yet, the lack of true information is something I'm loving. I can't for the life of me figure out where this series is really heading (aside from a war between the Fae and humans). Specifics are constantly twisting and turning offering many different possibilities. Nothing is what it seems. And Barrons! Dammit, I want to know who and what he is as badly as Mac does! I thoroughly enjoy the way he always calls her 'Ms. Lane' so formal and distant and...I don't know, but I love his character and my curiosity about him is growing with each page he features on. The Fae creatures continue to make me shiver in fear and V'lane...well, V'lane scares me more than the rest because he comes across as a 'good' guy and I can't begin to believe that that's true. Really great read! So addictive and engaging. It's better than Darkfever and still promises that there is a lot more to come from this series. The ending was very dark and intense and left me begging for more! If you've not started this series, do because it's already a new favourite for me and with two books still to go, I'm already anxious for the final book, Shadowfever, which releases January 18th 2011.
