Had some for a few years and have come back for more. Other comments where people hace said they dont hold the strap have simply been a bit silly and put the end through the clip the wrong way.

Some don't give Masterlock lashing straps very high marks, so I was a bit hesitant, but these work well. The webbing is fairly supple and slides smoothly through one's hands and the buckle when the buckle is pressed open. One could opt for a shorter strap when securing small load, but this slides easily enough that it wasn't a bother. The strap enters the buckle from the bottom and makes a bend to come out the front of the buckle towards you. The side of the buckle indicates this threading direction. If the strap end is curved a bit it helps in negotiating the slight bend through the buckle to clear the teeth, which takes a few seconds of attention, and there is a natural curve if the strap the is stored in a rolled up position. Threaded this way, the strap is rather secure and feels like it should hold a pretty good load (rated at 150 kg holding and 300 kg to failure), no slippage. One could go to ratcheting straps for ultimate strength and security, but this cam-based lash seems less fiddly and avoids finding your ratchet mechanism has seized since you last used it (as happened to me last week at Ikea). No hooks here, but with 5 metres you can find a loop somewhere to anchor it (at least 6 anchor points in my boot, or it is thin enough not to upset door/window gaskets too much if looping through the car to lash to the roof).
