Great printer! The Fuser sleeve failed after 11.3k copies but Brother stood behind this product, even out of warranty!
The only problem I've had is that the Fuser Film Sleeve and roller broke at 11,00 copies. It made a "clunking" noise since the first time I used it. I should've returned it at that point. Looking at the meter, the fuser film sleeve and roller broke at 10% of useful life. I got an estimate to repair it at $225, which is more than 1/2 of what I paid for the printer. I sent an email to Brother to see if they would cover this premature failure. I will update progress if any. I like this printer....a lot! Using the high yield toner allows for very inexpensive ink costs. Set up was a breeze. Everything works very well and it's a lot quieter than previous Brother MFC's I've owned. This is my 4th Brother printer. I've had this printer for 18 months and use it in my home. If they resolve the Fuser Film sleeve issue, I would give this printer a 5 star rating! **update 6/20/16** I received an email from Brother stating that the Fuser Sleeve is considered to be a "consumable item" and are refusing to cover it thus far. Reading other reviews, it appears that this has been a recurring problem since 2014 but Brother apparently hasn't fixed it or reimbursed for premature failure (my Fuser went out and supposedly still had 90% life remaining according to the internal counter). I only printed 11,000+ copies and this is supposed to be a high-capacity printer? LOL! Anyway, I'm appealing and if they do not relent, I will contact various government agencies and may seek a class action suit. I'm not an attorney but I am getting mad at these people and I won't relent! **Update 6/27/16** Brother sent a Servright technician to my home today, at their expense, and fixed my printer Long story short...Brother does stand behind their products....good for them!! It appears to be working well and is no longer clunking. Thanks Brother :) You're getting an upgrade to 5 stars Greg, the tech they sent out from Servright was great as was Dwayne!

Great printer/scanner but defective engineering
Great printer/scanner but defective engineering. It draws too much power, trips AFCI breakers when it wakes from sleep. This is a known issue. Do not buy for home use if you live in a house with modern wiring. There is a firmware update but it did not solve the problem with my unit.Brother's customer service, by the way, is beyond useless. Hapless guy in the Philippines was completely clueless.

Great printing, duplex copying and scanning, and native GNU/Linux support
EDIT - 01/03/2016:After a few months of using this printer, I have to say I was too hasty in posting my previous review. I don't remember what exactly went wrong, except that I'm sure the piece of junk was actually WINDOWS. For unrelated reasons, I decided to move full time to Linux, and one of the hurdles was installing Linux drivers. Most printers, and most companies for that matter, don't support Linux well or at all. I dug deeper and I found out that not only are these the best printers I have ever had, they also have GREAT Linux support. They have .deb and .rpm files, which you can find on their website. As a printer, it works flawlessly. As a scanner, it does the job although you will have to run back and forth between the printer depending on the method you use to scan to your computer. As a copier, this printer will do duplex copies, as well as scanning. Hands down the best printer I have had. If they keep working without trouble, I will be a Brother customer for life. Again, I can't stress how much I appreciate the native drivers for Linux. Thank you and sorry for my previous review Brother.OLDER REVIEW - DISREGARDDon't bother with this piece of junk. It will work great at first but just a few days in and it will disconnect from the network and require you to power cycle. Even then the printer will show up as offline and not want to do it's only damn job. Same goes for the higher end color model I bought from Brother. They were correctly configured and worked initially, but then they will refuse to do their job. Still looking for a printer brand that just works.

Great for my type of printing I don't do photos
I got this piner for home use, had trouble with the wireless setup but worked it out and was up and running with desktop and laptop computers in about three hours, havent tried scan yet or confirmed fax works but prining and copy are fast and sharp. I Have had brother laser in past and this one will work just as well for my type of printing, didn't want to do pictures so laser best choice. when printing first copy og the day, the printer fires up fast and gets the job done, I spent alot of time looking at HP and brother very happy with my choice so far, based on the type of printing I do this is perfect for me and printings and copies crisp and clear
