WE SKI & SNOWBOARD WII

I have bought dozens of Wii games and I don't usually write reviews, but this one deserves the extra effort. I will preface the review by saying that I am 41 years old and have been skiing all my life. However, I wanted to also have my 5 year old use this to learn how to snowboard, as well as ski. I will also mention that I have a balance board and that it really is a whole different game when you use it. I have heard other reviews mention that skiing was not as good as the snow boarding, but with the balance board, this is definitely not the case. Both my son and myself like the skiing the best with the balance board, but the snow boarding is fantastic as well. I let him use the balance board when we ski together and it is also a blast with using just the remote, but not as realistic of a feel. My son can maneuver very well, but I would like to see him cut more to slow down...but then again, that is exactly how I skied when I was first learning. I guess the big difference was that virtual falling won't make him slow down like real falls will. As far as the graphics go, it doesn't get much better for the reason that the snow you are skiing on has an HD like perception, with tracks being made so visibly and accurately. The overall graphics are very good as well, which is amazing considering the game is already 3 years old. The sound quality is great, the speed feels very realistic and accurate. The resort is fun to play around in and the helicopter skiing is fast and furious. The different challenges, hidden courses and ability to interact give it the feel of endless exploration. In fact, the tree skiing and ability to ski over roof tops and tables just add to the feel that you can do anything in this game that you can do on the real ski run. There really isn't much I can think of that I would have added to this game, except for another sequel! So, order this and get ready to hit the slopes, but don't count on getting much work done:)

Did not like this game at all. Your really not doing anything, but tilting and not even interactive. It is a waste of money and now collecting dust.

Love Go Vaction. Got this used and pretty much decent game. Seller described accurately and game had original case and directions. Play value is good. Controls very similiar to Go vaca. Game should have the pet dog feature like Go Vaca does. Not much to complain about. One star off for some weird control configurations (especially for crouching)

I have had this game for a week now and cannot stop playing it! It is very addictive! I am a 35 year old female and play it with my 37 year old male friend. We are hooked! I also own We Ski and was hoping this was like that but more enhanced. It is! I think the snowboarding is the most fun! You can take a gondola to the top of the mountain or even a helicopter! The graphics are super and you can also use your Miis. You can play in night or day mode just like We Ski. There are a lot of `hidden' areas that you can find on the slopes. I cannot say enough about this game, it is fun! I find this one of the more relaxing games I own. And addictive! One thing I think people do not realize is you do not have to have the balance board to play this. That is only an option. I own the wii fit and tried the balance board on We Ski but found it harder. So when I got this game I have only used the wii mote and nunchuk and find it a lot more `hands on'. If you are looking for a game you will grab a lot to play this is it! Updated on 12/21/09 - This game is still played regularly in my house. I am now 36 and my friend in 38. Every time he comes over this is one of the games he grabs out of my collection to play. It is still as much fun as playing it the first time. I accidentally deleted my friend's mii and he was so happy to be able to find the hidden areas on the slopes again. We enjoy playing this game as we are winding down. It is perfect for night time in the night time mode and with the graphics and the sound it just relaxes you.

We have been very pleased with Wii Ski & Snowboard. It's a simple game to learn and easy for all three of our kids to play (ages 5, 7, & 10). The tutorial is well done, so that even our non-reading 5 year old quickly figured out how the controls worked. Additionally, it has several different play modes, from competitive races for our oldest to leisurely exploring for our middle child. The two player mode is excellent!!!! The screen is split and both players can ski independently of the other. For example, our daughter likes to ride the lifts up and down and while the adult playing with her would like to ski. That's no problem. We ski and she rides lifts. A wonderful feature for two players that might have different interests or when playing with an ADD child. It uses the balance board, which means the kids are up and moving. While it can easily be played with just the controller and nunchuck, the kids have more fun using the balance board. There is one feature I do not like. On the races, even if the player comes in second, it displays "You Lose" and the Mii is visibly upset. It's a bit of a problem for younger children that don't like to lose. It's a minor complaint, but we've had a few melt downs over second place finishes. To only have the game a few weeks, it's gotten significant play time and does seem to be one that will get some pretty extensive play for the foreseeable future.

Don't get your expectations up to high and you'll love this game. My 8yo daughter is having a lot of fun and shows no signs of stopping, so I'd say we're getting our entertainment value from the game. I'd recommend the game if you don't take your sports titles too seriously and are looking for mindless entertainment for an hour or two.

Can't imagine who Hitgaming thinks they are charging me $70 plus for a $20 Nintendo game. Have they no shame. They told me it was a "very rare game". Who are they kidding.

Kids love it!!

Bought this game a month back... lots of fun. I like to get Heli'd to the top of the mountain, and then ski all the way to the bottom finding my own routes. And its a great workout for your leg muscles - something you don't realize until you get off the balance board! Worth the money. Very good "feel" to the snow. I find it quite relaxing.
