Easy to use. No runs. Easy cleanup.
I built a new bookcase out of pine planks and a finished plywood back. After one coat of Danish oil, I put on two coats of the Minwax One Coat. It went on very smoothly and with a little caution no runs at all. I could have probably gotten away with one coat but two coats seemed to give it a little deeper finish look. Clean up was super easy and I’ll get a lot more use out of my brush. I am pleased with the results and product. I’m glad not to have to put on 10 coats of Danish oil. For this project it was perfect.

Good product
Good finish and one coat seems to be all you need. The value was really good compared to big box stores. Goes on well smooth texture time will tell on the strength of the coating. Negative is if you get it to thick it turns white.

Okay I guess
Being the first time using a water based polyurethane product, I'd say it worked okay. One coat gave a nice even coverage, and clean up was easy. Very little, if any odor (one of the reasons I wanted to switch from oil based). I didn't attempt to see how a second coat would work since I was using the satin finish type of this product.

Not sure the pros outweigh to cons
As a surprise to no one, there is no such as thing as a "one coat poly" application. One coat of this stuff feels and looks like there wasn't anything applied at all. Still scratches easy, limited water protection etc. I usually use the traditional oil based poly and go through the two application process and sand in-between coats for a nice glass like finish so that is my baseline.Pros: Dries extremely quick. This can be a con if you are working a larger project and need a wet edge. A lot of my projects/items are smaller so this is perfect. Within 30 minutes it is dry to the touch. I also like water based for less toxicity/less fumes.Cons: One coat of this does nothing. I have had to apply the same two coats as the oil based stain for similar at best results, including sanding in between coats. It says self leveling - it's not. It's not as rough as the oil based but still not a smooth finish. Two coats of this vs two coats of the oil based is not even close with results with the oil based coming out way ahead. Now, I will give this one-coat poly this: if you are not wanting the glass like finish and are ok with adequate protection with two coats this product can cut down your project time as you are able to lay down both coats in a relatively short amount of time instead of waiting hours in-between coats with the oil based. For me, stick to what works best and gets best results. Back to the oil based for me.

Best Ever Top coat
This is the best stuff ever made. It self-levels and leaves not streaks. One coat is all you need. I do two on nightstands for added protections
