Perfect Addition to the Aeron Chair
This headrest for the Aeron Chair is a brilliant addition to an already outstanding chair. It not only works seamlessly but also complements the chair's design aesthetic beautifully. This headrest offers an impressive range of adjustability, allowing you to tailor it to your exact needs. While it's true that it's not the most budget-friendly accessory, it's in line with the Aeron Chair's premium quality, and I expected such an investment. My primary reason for getting this headrest was to improve my posture while sitting, and it has delivered on that front superbly. It's a must-have if you value comfort and ergonomics in your workspace. Its performance, design compatibility, and posture-improving capabilities make it an excellent investment for anyone seeking the utmost comfort and support while working or sitting.

Perfect addition for the Aeron — comfort and style all in one!
I was a little skeptical about adding a headrest to our fully loaded Herman Miller Aeron size C, but the Engineered Now Original Headrest completely exceeded my expectations. First off, the fit is flawless. It clips on easily and feels like it was made for this chair specifically. No awkward shifting or readjusting every time you move. The comfort is next-level. My husband spends hours at his desk, and since we added this headrest, his posture and neck support have noticeably improved. It’s firm enough to provide real support but still soft and comfortable for leaning back and relaxing. I also love that the color matches the chair perfectly. It doesn’t look like an afterthought or an add-on; it feels like a natural part of the design. Compared to other headrests on Amazon, this one just feels premium. Some of the alternatives look cheap or don’t line up correctly with the Aeron’s curve, but this one really complements both the look and function of the chair. If you’re looking to upgrade your Aeron with a headrest that actually works and looks great, this is the one to get. My husband loves it, and I honestly feel like it was worth every penny. My husband has been using this headrest for over two years now and it has still held up, so definitely sturdy. The height of the headrest is adjustable. The headrest itself also does not weigh a lot.

$200 bucks for something that should have come with the chair? Gerd Dermit
I'm not sure if they updated the unit or not, but I'm 5 days in and no issues with mine yet. The assembly fits snugly on the top edge of the chair. The contours of the plastic body seem custom fit for the chair, so I didn't experience having to force it into place, or any unsightly gaps and general incorrect fit. It looks good and seems OEM quality frankly (thus far), and even the material matched my chairs pattern and color exactly. You have to have an extremely good eye to catch the difference (unless you ordered your chair(s) with another pattern or color). The adjustability of the headrest, after it's been installed, is very easy, using one lever to enable the upward and downard tilt of the headrest, while forward and backward adjustment is done manually (using your hands); I've read that you can adjust the level of force required to move the headrest forward and backward, but personally I haven't needed to do that. As for some other reviews saying the unit gets loose after a week or that they have had to finagle the unit onto the chair with McGiver solutions, I can happily say I have not needed to do anything like that yet. I really can't complain about anything other than the price, but really if you've ever sat in an Aeron (one that you paid for yourself), you quickly realize that for the money spent on it, a critical piece is missing, and this is that piece. It completes the chair and frankly should have come with one from the factory, so if you work for Herman Miller and are reading this, tell your cheap bosses to include this in the box.

Good but just a couple of areas that keeps it from being great
From a personal perspective, I normally hold more expensive items to a higher level of standard and I consider this item rather expensive in regards to the function. Overall, I am pleased with the headrest but it could use a couple of enhancements. I normally only leave 5-star reviews but the vendor really wanted a review and in all honesty, I couldn't rate it a 5. Pros: 1. Easy to install 2. Matches the chair 3. Provides the appropriate support 4. Comfortable to use 5. Well made Cons: 1. Expensive for the functionality provided 2. The horizontal adjustment is a bit lacking. It has significant options for vertical flexibility but has some hard to describe limitations on horizontal adjustments. I guess the best way to describe is there is a direct correlation between vertical and horizontal alignment making it a bit wonky. 3. Ability to adjust while sitting in the chair. The adjustment lever is in a very awkward position when trying to reach over your head or shoulders to adjust. I have yet to find the secret if there is one to adjusting while seated.

The perfect headrest for your HM Aeron
Fits securely on the chair with lots of adjustment options. Perfectly contoured (unlike the Atlas headrest) and supports the neck too. Matches so well it looks like it came from the factory. Very pleased with the quality!

Not HM quality, but HM price
I've been using this headrest for about 6 months and it is a decent headrest for the HM Aeron. I have a Aeron Remastered size C (large) and it fits it with no issues. It clamps onto the top of the seat back with a plastic and metal clamp that when tightened with the one tightening hex head screw, will fit securely. It seems to stay securely in place and I don't see any scratches or marks on my chair when I recently removed it. That being said, I wouldn't abuse it, as that might cause it to move laterally and scratch your very expensive HM chair. It should be noted that HM's FAQs say any modifications (including headrests) void their warranty, so be aware of that. My biggest complaint with this headrest is the mediocre construction quality and appearance. I purchased the color and size recommended for my chair (chair size C, graphite color), but the headrest is not exactly the same in color. The mesh is more gray-like and more rubbery than the mesh used by HM; the frame is also not an exact match for the color of my chair's frame and is also more gray-like. It doesn't look bad, but they are exaggerating when they say it will exactly match your chair. It will be very obvious when looking at the chair that the headrest is aftermarket. As for usability, it is easy to adjust, but what I don't like is that it rides on two metal rods to slide up and down. When I first got it, the fit of the headrest on the rods was pretty tight, so when you slid it to a position, it more or less stayed in that position. Pretty soon after I got it, however, it got really loose and now won't stay in a particular position and drops down to its lowest position when not in use. Maybe this is by design so it floats and moves with your head/neck, I don't know, but I liked it when it was a tighter fit when new. There doesn't appear to be any way to tighten up that aspect. Other aspects of the headrest can be tightened, but not that. It does include some spacers you can snap onto the rods which will prevent it from dropping all of the way down when installed, but that is it for up/down adjustment. I am also not happy with how the mesh is attached to the headrest frame. It appears they have a 2 piece plastic frame with the mesh sandwiched in between and snapped together to keep the mesh in place; maybe they did this in an attempt at aesthetics and appearance, but mine is poorly constructed so every time I lean my head back on the headrest, the plastic creaks and moans and "pops" out of alignment. You can squeeze the plastic frame and make it creak and moan and feel the frame pop out of alignment. Something isn't right with it and to me it just feels cheaply made. You get used to it and it does do its job as a headrest, but it is in no way up to the standards of HM quality in my opinion. Maybe I just got a dud; I can't return mine now as the return window is closed. I don't think this is worth paying full price for, since it isn't worth the high price without the high quality. Maybe when it goes on sale it is worth taking a chance on, if you can live with it not exactly matching appearance and being far poorer in quality than the chair.

I wish I had bought it sooner.
I want to start this review off with a quote from another review that won me over: "I wish I would have bought it sooner". The design, materials, and color are a perfect match for my Aeron charcoal chair. I'll get to this later, but customer support was excellent. This review is for the H4 version. I'm a programmer and a while back I purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair. However, during some intense programming sessions, my neck muscles would start to bunch up. This headrest is exactly what I needed to handle it. Now that I can lean back to support my neck, and it actually helps me with my posture. I was seriously considering purchasing another chair with a headrest when I saw this add on. The price was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it really is a perfect match and works very well. Considering I've had the chair for about 10 years, I expect it is worth it. Fit: In regards to fit, I'm 5'9. When the chair is in the upward position, I use the top downward slope as support. When reclining I tilt the rest up and use the front part. It fits quite well. Adjustment is pretty quick with the clamping lever which is easy to reach, but for the most part I just tilt the upper pivot. Support: The first one that I ordered had a slight manufacturing defect where one side wasn't fully pushed in. It worked fine, it just looked wonky. I contacted support and they got back to me immediately and sent out a new one. Adjustments: (This is not as big of a deal as I probably make it sound, but thought I would mention it.) There are two pivot points on this headrest (which in the pictures, you can tell from the two circles). The first is the bottom part which is controlled by the clamp. The second one is higher up behind the headrest, which is controlled by the tension of two screws. If I'm repositioning the upper head rest a lot, I eventually need to retention the screws. Its really not a big deal, but thought I would mention it. The plastic caps that cover the screws have kind of a fine edge. To keep from marring them, I used a credit cart to work around the cap and pull it up. As a side note, they include spare caps in the package if you do mangle it :) I just keep the caps off for now, but I'll probably just put them back in and not fully seat them to make removal easier. I'm quite happy with the product and considering I use it every day, well worth it.

Recent QC issues: Mesh fabric is drooping
The photo says it all. The fabric on the first headrest I received was so loose it was uncomfortable. I contacted the seller and was advised to exchange it with Amazon, which I did. The replacement was even worse in this respect. I thought instead of trying my luck with another H4, I'd cough up the $180 for the new H5 model. That did not turn out well. First, I'm 6'2" and it's too short for me when I sit up straight. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 6 feet tall. Second, it is made of far flimsier plastic. It has popped off my chair three times and I have now got it fastened down as tight as I'm willing to go (I'm afraid tightening it any further will damage my chair). Third, the curvature of the H3 and H4 headrests has been all-but eliminated, making the H5 substantially less supportive and far less ergonomic, in my opinion. It is easy to feel one's head resting on the plastic instead of the mesh. Fourth, while I appreciate a little bit of flexibility, the H5 is made of plastic so flimsy I feel like a bobblehead. (See the video attached to this comment.) The excessive flexibility also contributes to my not being able to set it high enough: Because it flexes 2-4 inches backwards just from the weight of my head, I have to set the headrest to jut out so far to get it into a reasonable position when under load that I lose an inch or more of heigh. The mesh on the H5 is, at least, taut. But it is also scratchier than the H3 and H4, which already felt cheaper and scratchier than the Aeron chair mesh. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this has been super frustrating. I expected better quality with a headrest that costs more than most office chairs. (Edit: Adding a photo to show where the H5 comes to on my neck with its height adjustment fully extended. Obviously, this is going back.)
