Q: is this safe if dog rips toy and gets to crinkle material?

It is plastic paper so it will not be “digested” if eaten by your dog.

Q: can the crinkle be sewn in or do it just get placed inside the toy?

I have only wadded the crinkle film and stuffed inside the toy. It has held up well through several washes at this time. It works great. I have not sewn it in.

Q: Can this material make a sound like an old vinyl record?

Before we answer let us build out our position. We do not have experience with "old vinyl records - some CDs but mostly digital". We assume you mean old vinyl that creates music. If there is another "old vinyl record", please forgive and reply and we will expand. Now that you know our frame of reference we will answer. No - Crinkle Material for makers does not produce that classic music sound you are looking for. It produces a crinkle or crackle sound that captivates babies, pets, elderly, and mid-aged individuals who rave (as we recently learned from a buyer who bought a ton for Coachella).
