The High King of Lighter Inserts
I recently snagged the Zippo Yellow Flame Pipe Lighter Insert, and let me tell you, this thing is the MVP of my smoking stash. As someone who smokes enough weed to make Snoop Dogg blush, I needed a lighter that could keep up, and boy, did this deliver. The yellow flame is like a tiny, reliable dragon breath, perfect for lighting my bong and pipes with precision. No more singed fingers or wasted herb! It fits snugly in my trusty old Zippo case, so I get that classic, bada-bing-bada-boom flick without any fuss.If you’re looking to elevate your smoking game, this lighter insert is a total blaze of glory. Highly recommend for anyone who likes their flame like they like their munchies: dependable and always ready to go.

Learning curve
Zippo reached out and let me know that air can get trapped making the lighting inconsistent and hindering a full fill. They instructed me to poke the filling valve until all of the contents were emptied, then to refill with butane. It’s best to empty it completely before refilling. (By the way, the flint-looking thing at the end of the spring IS NOT THE FLINT. The flint is separate and loose. Newbie mistake. I also replaced the flint.)Thank you, Zippo! I’m back to loving my lighter. ❤️)Previous review: I was hopeful for this product. When it was new it took two to three tries to light, and just got more and more inconsistent. Now it stopped working. I’ve filled with zippo butane, checked the flint… nothing. It’s also not wind proof like other zippos. I wrote to zippo a week ago and have heard nothing from them. I’ve gone back to using my lighter from the dollar store. Save your money.

Very disappointed
Worked great for three days. Now it takes 10 to 20 tries before it lights. Bled the tank and refilled. No better . Changed the flint. No better. I went back to the lighter fluid insert.

Had to exchange!
Man do I love a zippo. I have carried one with me for years and used daily. As I have recently quit cigarettes I have been enjoying the occasional tobacco pipe. While wanting a pipe lighter but not the conventional insert, as I don't smoke often anymore, I wanted a butane so I would have to worry about running out of fuel. When it arrived it would not light. I don't know if it ever accepted fuel, though not from a lack of me trying. Finally called zippo and in about a week they had a new one out to me. Worked fantastic!Great customer service, replacement shipping was a bit slow (Amazon has spoiled me).

You can't beat a Zippo
My dad had a Zippo lighter that he carried all through World War II. Somewhere along the line, somebody swiped my dad's Zippo. So I got a regular lighter fluid Zippo, but I decided that I really preferred the gas style. I'm using it for a pipe so I got the pipe design where the flame comes out from the side. This is so great I can't even begin to tell you how much easier it is to use for the pipe than a normal lighter. This thing is excellent quality. The only thing I wish that the Zippo folks would do is beef up that stupid hinge on the lid. It has always felt like it's about to break off. My dad's Zippo from the 1940s had the same issue. I wish the Zippo would find some way to make a more robust lid hinge without changing the design too much. Though I'm sure there are people who love the wonkiness of the lid.
