Q: I purchased this week and went to assemble. The instructions mention the need of hardware (washers), does it come with hardware?

It comes with everything you need and is super easy to put together. I think it took me 10 minutes to have it ready to use.

Q: Is it waterproof? Can this be used on the beach?

No! This metal detector is NOT waterproof. There is a large warning at the bottom of the instructions that specifically says, "do not dip the search coil in water. This is not an underwater metal detector. You will damage the unit." The Amazon description is misleading.

Q: Will it detect pipes and wires in my yard also?

If you are trying to locate utilities lines, water, phone, electric or cable services. You need to call a your utility company for locating or call before you dig number. A metal detector will not detect them.
