I wear my hair in locs and my scalp tends to be very dry. Before i had locs, i had no problem finding a product that would keep my scalp moisturized. This past two years however, every product i have tried leaves my scalp so incredibly dry. Either the formulas have changed or longer hair simply requires more moisturizing. I finally got tired of trying to make products like Sulphur 8, Morrocan oil, etc work for me and i switched over to mineral oils. I tried Tea Tree oil, Jojoba, Avocado, Vitamin E, Peach oil....you name it i tried it. My scalp would feel great for a couple of days and then it was back to the drawing board. I was at my wits end when i stumbled across Jamaican Black Castor oil. I purchased it with great skepticism, truth be told, i was expecting more of the same.Product DetailsThe oil is extra dark as they describe it and it is extremely thick. It doesn't appear to have been diluted in any way.MY EXPERIENCEI washed and dried my hair as i normally do, and applied the castor oil to my scalp. The texture of the oil felt great on my scalp and my scalp felt wonderful as i massaged the oil in. The best part?... the oil was too thick to run down my scalp and it was also thick enough to tighten and hold my locs in place. My scalp stayed moisturized for the entire week, my hair felt soft to the touch and my itchy scalp is a thing of the past. The oil is not completely odorless, it has a faint smell of ...well...castor oil. My biggest issue with hair oils is that the oil tends to leave marks on my pillow....haven't had that problem with Black Castor oil

You receive a decent sized bottle and product for the price. It definitely helps so much with hair growth, within a week you will notice the difference. This is a consistent purchase for me.

Love this! Great quality! I ordered more after using up the whole bottle. Be careful as dogs will have an allergic reaction to it if they happen to lick just a tiny amount after it’s on your hands. Even after it is absorbed by your skin. I use it on my face and body. Keeps my skin supple and smooth. No breakouts. Sugar causes breakouts I have noticed with people I know. A lot of info out there about the benefits of castor oil.

I tried the Home Health brand Home Health Castor Oil, Cold Pressed and Cold Processed, 32-Ounce before and because I tried regular castor oil first, I didn't really know what to expect when I read that this product was extra dark . It has a very thick consistency and it is very thick . I applied this product to my scalp , so if your hair is fine , I do think it could become weighed down . The smell is definitely strong but you could mix it with something else to help with that . I felt it made my hair at the roots extremely soft . I also feel it sealed moisture into my hair, but it was a thicker consistency so I used it to pre poo ( treatment on your hair before you shampoo ) my hair with other oils as well, never alone on my hair. I wanted the added benefits that I read that smell I didn't want to walk around smelling like. Overall , I feel it did what it says it does, even though I did not use the entire bottle.
