Flintstone Feet
For those with wide feet and wondering why there are no D, EE or other “wide” designation sizes for CQR boots. Size 10.5 and I have very wide feet; to the tune that I simply cannot wear N1<€ or similar shoes that run narrow. My purchase is of size 10.5 black w/ side zip. The boots are very true to size and the toe box is surprisingly wide enough to accommodate my “Flintstone” (flat and wide) feet. Break-in took a week while oiling the leather on the 1st and 3rd day and subsequently every 2 weeks thereafter. Experienced only mild discomfort.Only one problem with the boots I’ve noticed pertains to the length of the side zipper. Out of the box it is ever so slightly too short, and even with the pull strap donning was difficult. I found easy resolution in replacing the laces with high quality bungee/shock cord from a reputable brand that is not specifically marketed for solely (no pun intended) this purpose. I was able to do the kid’s shoes as well and still have some remaining to add to inventory. These boots are not equipped with a safety toe. They are not waterproof. Height is mid-6” style. Out of the box they are silent (no squeaking on finished floors or of the leather on itself). Very lightweight with removable insoles. Comfortable and durable enough (with proper care and maintenance) for all day, every day and occupational wear.At the lower-end price point ($50-$100) CQR boots get my recommendation.

Great hiker for the price
So far so good. They were really large compared to other brands. I typically wear UA, I'm a size 10 but always have to buy size 10.5 in UA..... these are opposite....I sent size 10 back and ordered 9.5...they were still big. But they are light and decently comfortable and holding up well after a couple months. I work construction and it's always hard to find a decent lightweight shoe that holds up and doesn't break the bank. They aren't as comfortable as most UA shoes/hikers ive owned but not far behind.. The side zip feature is definitely nice, makes slipping on and off a breeze. "Water repellant" is definitely a stretch, but for the price I wasn't expecting much in that area. If the price stays reasonable and I can get a least 6 to 8 months of wear, I will be buying more in the future.UPDATE: After more than a yr of wear, typically 5-6 days a week, these shoes have held up remarkably well. I am beyond impressed. I changed from 4 stars to 5. I have used these for hiking, hunting but mostly for my day to day job of construction. I typically wear them unzipped, unless I'm hiking in them or on a roof/climbing thru trusses. They arent built for long hikes unless the terrain is pretty forgiving. They dont do great on steep hills or rocky terrain, the sole just doesnt have enough cushion for that. But I have done it a few times and have had worse experiences with hikers 2x to 3x their price. But u will not find a better hiker for mild terrain or daily walking/work for the money. My old ones have a couple small holes from working construction, but the ripstop fabric has kept them very small and they're still wearable. I just bought a new pair, but will keep the old ones for yrs to come for jobs like painting or when i need a comfortable pair of shoes for a dirty/messy job.

One year of use
While I have a gripe or two about these boots, I have to say they are by far the best thing I have ever put on my feet.I'm a correctional officer and walk a LOT! From rough concrete and asphalt to polished concrete and tile.First gripe- not slip resistant! The first time I hit a slick spot I almost ate it hard! Not the best if you are running to a fight where pepper spray has been used. You do get used to it after a while though.Second gripe- the tread has worn out after a year. Now I'm almost certainly being overly critical with this as I have already mentioned that I do put a lot of miles on my shoes. (1/4 of a mile from one end of my institution to the other. And I walk that atleast 2-4 times a day)What I love about them- wide toe box! Every other boot I have ever worn makes my feet feel like they are being squeezed to death from the sides.-soft sole. They feel like what I hear all the "minamalist" shoe people say those shoes feel like. I can feel the ground under my feet but not to the point that it's uncomfortable.-even after a year with the original insoles, my feet don't hurt after wearing them for 8-16 hrs a day. I have tried many other brands of boots and I have always had to put a new insole in them after a few months and always yanked them off the second I got home because my feet would be throbbing. All said and done, I will most likely buy these again and just deal with the slip-n-slide.

Comfortable, composite / no metal shanks, metal detector friendly, great footbed.
I wear these for work, 12 hour shifts. They replaced a pair from UA. I love the footbed in this pair. It is a little tight fit at first but the boot does stretch a tad after a couple of times wearing it. The sole and toes are composite / no metal shanks so it does pass easily through metal detector screening. The zipper is decent but should be used carefully as I think it is not quite as robust as some other brands, but mine works well. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars for water resistance. It does pretty well, and I would suggest periodically using waterproofing spray to keep up the water resistance. The tread seems decent and does not seem to slip easily on slick surfaces. I would buy these again for sure!
