I ordered two for gifts two years ago and they were beautiful. So, I ordered two more last year for gifts and they came in rotten and did not grow. I would say, take your chance. It may be worth it.

Q: How long do they last? Is it seasonal or all year ?

The bloom lasts about 2 weeks. After that the green leaves grow into Sept. with proper light and watering. At the beginning of September quit watering. The leaves will die off. Cut them as they die. Put the bulbs in brown paper bags. Bag them with plenty of newspaper insulation around them. Put them in you garage for at least 8 weeks. After that they can be replanted and should rebloom. Eventually they will wear out and die off. I usually get 2 to 3 years out of my bulbs.

Q: Can you grow these bulbs outside in southern california?

I think these bulbs are prepared for indoor flowering in the northern hemisphere winter. Once it has flowered the first time, I would have no hesitation planting it outside in Southern California - and see what happens! (I have a bulb here in the UK that is about to flower for a third time after having been outside all summer.)
