45 Master Characters, Revised Edition: Mythic Models for Creating Original Characters

It's a good workbook. The book is definitely inspired by Jean Shinoda Bolen's books Gods in Every man and Goddess in Every woman. But it's a practical book which comes handy to a writer while crafting characters.

Wer nicht nur dreidimensionale Charaktere entwerfen will, sondern seinen Figuren zusätzliche Tiefe verleihen möchte, sollte sich unbedingt "Archetypen" anschauen. Was mir an diesem Buch besonders gefällt, sind die praktischen Beispiele aus Buch und Film. Zudem wird auch die Beziehung der einzelnen Archetypen beleuchtet, d. h. inwiefern sie die gegenseitige Entwicklung fördern, was mir bisher in keinem anderen Ratgeber begegnet ist.

Ceux qui lisent l'anglais, trouveront certainement ce livre est absolument génial. Toute la collection est une véritable mine d'or pour ceux qui écrivent des romans ou des nouvelles.

Gostei muito do livro pelo fato de trazer a diferença da jornada do "herói" e da "heroína" e por conter bases para a construção de um personagem feminino.

This book is a superb reference for anyone writing fiction or BOTS (Based On a True Story) stories.It's not an exciting book, but it's excellent for character insights... those little things you may not have included, which will make your characters memorable and three-dimensional. You don't need to follow the "master characters" as a formula, but for character nuances, motivation, and insights, this is easily the best book in the field.I'm keeping this book on my bookshelf with  The Writers Journey: Mythic Structure for Writers, 3rd Edition  and  20 Master Plots: And How to Build Them . These are among the books I double-check to be sure my story outline is complete. Otherwise, I may get to the middle, see it sagging beyond redemption, and... it becomes yet another unfinished book.If you're developing characters, you need this book.
