This pack is not considered waterproof. The outer fabric has a durable water-repellent finish, but water could still enter through the stitching and the zippers. We suggest placing sensitive items (like books or a laptop) in a drybag before placing in the pack if you will be in rain situations.

Q: does it have a luggage handle sleeve?

No, it does not. You can connect the sternum strap between the two shoulder straps and slip it over a suitcase handle to achieve the same effect.

Q: Can the north face router backpack be used as a personal item on an airline (not a carry-on) and stowed under the seat?

Yes, it can be stowed under the seat. Like every other pack, be careful not to overload the pack, which could cause it not to fit under the seat.
