Wonderful fins
I've been using Mares Avanti Quattros for years and could keep going with my old ones, but I just wanted a new pair as my edges were becoming slightly curled and the stiffness was not so stiff as new... in time all things tend to wear out and hopefully I'll still be diving enough to wear these out, too. They're that good in terms of allowing my best maneuvering and positioning for the sake of doing underwater photography.

Excellent balance of power and fine control
This is my second set of these, my first pair lasted 6 years of diving all over the world- easy stuff in Belize, ripping currents on Polynesian atolls and sea mounts in Socorro. The blue pair in the photo. Those got lost off the back of a livaboard in a storm in Papua New Guinea after the mooring line broke and we almost lost the boat. They were starting to wear a bit at the bungee attachment points, but to be fair, I think it’s because they got mixed up in Socorro for a day and another diver with much larger feet crammed his giant foot into them.Yes, you can get a bit more power out of Cressi or other long skin diving fins (have fun inside a wreck with those, or packing them) and a lot of fins will give you as much fine control, but nothing else on the market gives you the control with the power.I got stuck with a loaner pair of fins - Scuba Pro go travel fins in PNG and on the first dive in a current I missed the Avanti Quattros. If you use them a lot, you’ll eventually wear out a bungee strap, but it’s a wear item, so buy a spare.

Best Fins
I have been diving with Mares fins for years. These new fins with the bungee strap are a great improvement.

Great fin, FANTASTIC strap
I've used these fins a couple dozen times now and am impressed. I read a couple reviews on other sites that suggested leg cramps were caused because of these. I haven't found that to be true, thus far. What I love: the bungee strap! In and out of the boat is a cinch with these straps--I'd never want to go back to a buckled strap. Also, these are very lightweight compared to other fins I've used. They have enough room in the foot pocket that they can be worn with boots, but they are also closed enough that they can be worn with just dive socks/booties if that is preferred. I typically dive with Cressi Palma 3mm "boots" (socks, really) and they work great with these fins.Cons: the white color gets marked up quickly from the black rubber accents. Also, don't be tempted to wear these barefoot. Most people don't wear open heel fins barefoot, but I've done it a few times anyway with different fins and was fine. These straps will not allow for that.Addressing the cramp issue--I feel like that is much more a problem with diet, exercise, and technique than it is with a particular fin. The same can be said of any sports related cramp. I've cramped once in all my diving, and I was just coming off leg day at the gym and wasn't hydrated. Don't be afraid of these fins because of a few cramped-leg reviewers...I honestly do not know how these would contribute AT ALL to cramping.

Best fins I've had yet
I don't know what it is about their design, but these fins are perfect. Scissor kick, frog kick, small foot movements, any style of kicking gives me a sense of control with them. May never go for a different pair of fins.

Perfect for Drysuit Diving not so much for Wetsuit Diving
I walk a lot and have very dense calves. My lower body is very dense, and I carry fat all on my stomach.I bought the quattros as my first scuba fins. These gave me awful seahorse trim in a 5mm dive boot no matter what I did. I just got drysuit certified and the quattros are perfect for drysuit diving instead of the jetfin. The quattros are somewhat negatively buoyant. I need 7mm boots along with Scubapro Go Sport fins to stay in perfect horizontal trim. The bungee cords lasted about 60 dives until I was foolish enough to overextend it while putting my fins on from far away.If you have floaty feet, these fins are perfect for you. If you have very dense legs/calves, the quattros are perfect for drysuit diving and not for wetsuit diving.

Awesome fins!
They work terrific! You can get as little or as much power as you need with these long bad boys! I never had a problem fighting current or just in regular use :)

Best in the industry.
Most comfortable, easy and smooth I have used this fin for over 35 years as a master instructor I have gone thru several sets and I have never seen anything comparable.
