How fast do these dry? I have been painting with acrylics what are the differences? Thanks

It's still an oil paint, and the use of water while painting means that the water component dries within a few days; but, the oil base itself means that the thorough complete drying time is six months to a year, before you can varnish it.

If only water is needed, what is artisan h2o med linseed oil multicolor for?

I do use water mixable linseed oil in preparing my canvas and also for blending. I don't use water in any way during painting. The advantage in using water mixable oil paint is the clean up and no chemical smell.

does it mean that the medium for these is water?

It means you can use water to thin your paint and wash your brushes. Still use a bit of soap on your brushes when washing. The drying time is a bit faster than regular oil paint too.

Can i use these with normal linseed oil? i can't buy the linseed oil for water mixable oils where i live. thanks!

Yes. My bottle says it is linseed oil. You won't bNeed much. My bottle is 8.4 ounces and only 1 or out of it after a year of once a week painting.

Great set!

The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a set of water-mixable oil paints to start learning oil painting, and didn’t want to invest in traditional oil yet. I’m very happy with this alternative option. The set comes with enough colors to produce a full color portrait and you get to feel the oil texture. I painted on paper, but I’m sure it will work on canvas as well. It works fine with water but I used linseed oil to add oily texture and for thinning the paints. Overall it was a really nice experience and I’m definitely going to buy more colors in the future.
