It just works!
I wanted this for much the same reason as anyone else will: I have a great old printer but nowhere to plug it into. Mine is an HP1100.Actually, that's two problems in one: a hardware one and a software one. I wanted to sack the Windows 2003 server and its parallel port, so I replaced it with a Windows 2012 R2 Server and bought a parallel port for my new motherboard. Perversely, this fixes the hardware problem, but W2012 just recognises the printer attached to the port and says that there's no suitable driver. I tried using VirtualBox to run an OS under W2012 to handle the print service, but this seems to be an emptier territory than many north of Montreal: there is in principle a virtual parallel printer service in VirtualBox, but in practice it just doesn't work even in basic circumstances.This device just fixes all this at a stroke for the price of two beers. Plug the printer in via the USB port and it all just works, with no VirtualBox, setting up a virtual printer port and immediately installing the required HP-1100 (MS) driver. Perfect.Now in theory this device is even better, it's a full bidi port, so should also handle the scanner on this HP. But that would require an HP driver, I think, and they don't offer one for these later OSs. Since the device is now presented via USB I reckon VirtualBox could now fill in on that bit, hosting older HP drivers, but I haven't tried yet.

Good build quality of this product.
The quality of the product was excellent and performs well as expected that a USB to DB25 Parallel interface should. Only tested on one of my printers, but will be trying on the others in due time.

Unfortunately however much I tried I could not make this item work with my laptop. I was contacted by Ugreen numerous times with suggestions to help but to no avail. Although we concluded that the product itself was not faulty and being outside the Amazon refund window, Ugreen offered me a full refund. They did everything in their power to help me and I cannot fault their service. Thanks

Connecting load and clear
This is a great device which allowed me to re-connect my old HP Laser jet printer to my new laptop, something I had given up thinking would happen. Brilliant value too.

Does Not Work With Windows 7 or XP Either
The device installs but does not create an LPT Port so is useless.I have purchased 3 or 4 USB to parallel port adapters in the past but I have never seen one that does not install as an LPT Port.
