Best gas cans I've ever had.
These are by far the best gas cans i've owned. They are heavy duty metal. There is a positive seal at the top which is for fire, but also keeps fumes in and keeps the gas longer. You can get different size spouts which is something to be aware of when ordering as the larger one will not really work with some smaller gas powered lawn tools. I do like the old style metal pour spouts though as they stay in place and work so much better than plastic spouts or tubes.I've had several for many years w/o any problems. They are so much better than any plastic fuel bottle because gas (especially with ethanol) goes bad so fast in a plastic can. All my plastic fuel bottles are now used for waste oil....

Quality you can feel
The quality of the can is superior, the initial cost was a bit of a shock but that all went away once I received the can and assembled it. I ordered two of these cans and both had dents on the top of the can, not a deal breaker its just cosmetic. They function as expected and I feel they were well worth the investment.

Great long lasting gas can
Great gas can . Better than the new design plastic slow pouring cans that are available in stores currently.

Best Gas Cans
Very impressed. I switched to the Type II Justrite cans a short while ago after having an almost catastrophic incident with a plastic gas can. I was using my pressure washer outside one day and had placed the plastic can a couple feet away from the running pressure washer. Through the course of washing a few cars, the pressure washer slowly vibrated over right next to the plastic gas can (filled with gasoline). I glanced over and notice the muffler was directly pointed at the can and started to MELT the plastic can. I can only imagine what would have happened if that continued and I did not see this to intervene and stop it. I probably would not be here writing the review on these safer cans. Very happy to invest in the Justrite Type II cans now. I have bought eight of these cans now and will never buy another plastic can for fuel. Too dangerous. I have provided a picture of my older plastic can that almost blew up. Very thankful this was not worse.

I absolutely love this gas can
For something that seems like such a simple and utilitarian item, upgrading to an all-metal type 2 gas can is one of the most satisfying purchases I recall making recently. Every single time I pull this thing out to fill it I'm just delighted by its effectiveness. It's sturdy, never spills a drop of gas, stands upright and lets me insert the autofill nozzle from the gas pump and shuts off when it hits 5 gallons just like filling a car. If you do anything where you regularly need gas I can't tell you how happy you will be, just go ahead and buy it you will not regret the extra money compared to all the wasteful plastic ones you've probably seen come and go over the years. I can't believe I'm raving about a gas can but it is really really a quality item.

Strong Safety Gas Can at a Good Price
I got this and an Eagle brand safety gas can Eagle U2-51-S Type II Gas Safety Can 5-Gallon Metal Red With Flex Spout to replace an aging Blitz Jerry canBlitz USA #31710 5 CARB compliant metal Jerry Can. (Please note that the Blitz can link is meant only for reference - my Blitz can is nearly 3 decades old, without the updated spout) I use these for back-up gas for the truck on desert trips, for gas-powered tools at home, and for emergency back up at home because both my wife and I can't seem to gas up our vehicles unless there's about a quart of gas left in the tank. These safety cans are much safer than the old style Jerry cans due to the ability to vent gases when they heat up as well as the addition of spark arrestors.Based on my experience with this gas can:Pros:* No leaks, no smells - Unlike my old Jerry can, this one has very positive and effective seals on both the inlet and outlet points. I have never detected any vapors leaking despite much sloshing around.* Effective operation - I like the handle set up on this one a bit better than the Eagle can, referenced above. I find it slightly easier to pull the lever that opens the outlet for pouring. The outlet spout that comes with this can is 5/8", which makes it easy to insert the nozzle in the gas inlet of your car, or small gas tanks of gas-powered equipment.* Strong construction - The sides, top, and bottom of this gas can are very thick and do not flex. It has proven very dent-resistant over time.* Price - As of the date of purchase, this 5 gallon type II safety can was significantly cheaper than the one from Eagle. If money is the primary driver, this one has others beat. When all things are considered, I have to give the nod to the Eagle safety can.Cons:* Nozzle - While the nozzle is a good diameter, it does not seem as heavy duty as the one that came on the Eagle can. My main complaint here is that the nozzle attaches to the can via two screws, a flanged end, and a thick cork gasket. While this works effectively in terms of pouring, the nozzle doesn't have sufficient flexibility to move out of the way for compact storage, either in the garage or in the back of my truck when nestled with other gear. Having the nozzle sticking out all the time also increases the chances that it will be damaged. While it could be removed and replaced as needed, I find that inconvenient and would expect that the cork gasket would become unreliable when I needed it most. The Eagle can nozzle, by comparison, screws on and off with a heavy, fine thread nut using a quality rubber gasket.* Construction - Wait a minute, you say, this was also in the Pro column! True, and while reliability has proven to be excellent, I can't help but compare with the Eagle can here, as I got both at the same time and have been using both side-by-side. This can is constructed with a seam down the side of the can, like the kind of steel can that beans come in. (For you manufacturing types, this is a 'three piece can' style, with a top piece, a bottom piece, and the side piece which is wrapped around and welded and/or folded down the side) Does it matter? In day to day use over time, probably not. It matters to this reviewer, however, as I find the construction of the Eagle can to be superior: It has no seam down the side, as it's a two piece can. (While it is made of galvanized steel, this style of can is similar to an aluminum soda or beer can: a drawn and formed can with a top - or bottom - then sealed to it. To see the difference, check out a steel can of beans with the label off as you ponder the can of your favorite beer or soda in your other hand)Other thoughts:For those who care, this can is made in China. The Eagle can is made in the USA. To be honest, I can't say that I see any difference in quality when it comes to durability. For some, this won't make any difference in product selection; for those to whom this matters, it may be useful information.Basically, this is a good safety can at a very good price and for those reasons I give it four stars. I have been satisfied with the purchase, however the design of the nozzle will keep me from getting another of these. Even when price is considered, I find the Eagle type II safety can to be the better product. Having limited resources as many do, though, I understand that price sometimes trumps other issues. If you find that you can live with the nozzle sticking out all the time, this may be the safety gas can for you.

Solid
The best all around solid gas can. Easy to fill and pour, self venting, nothing not to like. Knocking a star as mine arrived dented, not a huge debt, maybe the size of a US dollar bill. Not worth the hassle of returning as these things get dinged up via normal use. Just kinda nice to receive a new product undamaged. Might be better buying these from a local retailer, as price will not vary much, you support a local business, and you know the quality. I need a few more and will buy in that fashion.
