back up is calculated on the battery size and the load you are using. Suppose we are using 12V x 150Ah battery which means the total VAH would be 12 x 150 = 1800VAH. If we are using 1000VA load, then backup would be 1800/1000 = 1.8 hours. Now there are other factors we should take into account such as discharge rate, age of the battery, efficiency of the ups etc.. which is technical. In layman terms, we shall duduct about 30% from the result to get an approximate backup. Therefore 70% of 1.8 hours would be about 1.25 hours. Therefore, the conclusion is that if we are using 1000VA load on 150Ah battery, ideally we get a backup of 1.25 hours. The hours shall increase if the load decreases and vice versa.
