Great book and got it second hand so saved a few bob too! Just as described and in good condition.

Its only after i read this book that i really knew that i wanted to make art journals. The pages show so many creative options and give you so much inspiration for your own work, you'll be dying to try out new ideas straight away. Its a great book, especially if like me you're really into art, and want to open up to as many new ideas as possible. Art journals are a great thing, and i will always be taking one on holiday with me where ever i go. soon i hope to travel, and i cant wait for the end result of the journals then.A must have book. If not to work from as a guide then to give you an insight to new ideas, and the great work that many artists are involved with.

I loved this book. As a practicing artist I am always looking for way to expand my artistic expression and this is really stimulating. The pages are quite visual which definitely helps but supported with simple "how to" information. I found itvery stimulating.The sheer breadth of ideas in this book is really challenging and i am sure there would be something in it for every creative person. It helped me realise also the importance of creating an artist journal to help me decide what I like and what is not so relevant in my life, and the journey is fun and exciting. ~The reader is exposed to many types of creativity, layers, textures, messages, colours - the list is endless. Yes i would definitely recommend it to any creative person to broaden their skills and mindset

I was very unsure about this book when it arrived - being a methodical person my first impression was that the ideas were very 'messy' BUT, having gone through the book several times, it is beginning to grow on me and give me ideas about forming a journal of my own. There are many interesting ideas illustrated throughout the book some of which I can see being useful to me and I am now glad that I bought it, whether it is to everyone's taste I am not sure but I think, if you are considering creating an art journal - or two or three - then this book would be a valuable resource.

A pure joy. It will be a companion to me, and a validation as I follow this unique and profound inner path. Well done Lynne Perella.

in this as in lynne perrella other book Alphabetica you get artists journal pages to inspire you, but unlike most of these types of books that just give you the image of the artists work, you get a rough guide line of how they achieved their inspiring images. also scattered though out the book are handy tips, ideas for getting you started on your own journal or get re-started if you have become stuck for ideas.

I love this book. It's got a lot of great and useful information, it's beautifully visual and it really packs a lot into its pages. Since buying this book a couple of months ago, I've referrred back to it again and again. Every time I look at it I see something I hadn't seen before, which invariably sparks dozens of new ideas. Thanks for getting me out of an artistic rut, Lynne!

L'"artist journaling" est un moyen accesible à tous d'exprimer son potentiel créatif même si on est mal à l'aise avec un crayon et une gomme. Dans cet ouvrage il y a plein d'exemples destinés à inspirer la conception de ce type de journal à partir de récup', collages, vieux tickets de ciné, dessins naifs... Bien entendu de sont des artistes pro qui ont contribué au livre mais tout le monde peut se lancer dans ce type de céation et obtenir des résultats immédiats. Personnellement il m'aide à relancer mon imagination quand je suis bloquée devant une peinture. (je dirais que j'ai un niveau intermédiaire en dessin, peinture)..

Künstlerhefte + Skizzenbücher von Lynne PerrellaNachdem ich für mich das regelmäßige Skizzieren in einem Blankobuch entdeckt habe, und somit meine zeichnerischenFähigkeiten verbessern gelernt habe, wollte ich nun mal sehen, wie Amerikaner so vorgehen....(Das Buch wird auch in England vertrieben).Die Autorin führt über die Seiten und stellt insgesamt 40 verschiedene "Skizzenbuch-Künstler" vor mit seinen jeweiligenthematischen Schwerpunkten.Das Buch ist üppig bebildert(es beteht fast nur aus Bildern)und zu vielen Kunstwerken wird auf den handwerklichen Aspekteingegangen (wie mache ICH das, Besonderheiten, Techniken, usw.).Zu Beginn gibt es eine (einfühlsame) Anleitung, um selber erst mal anzufangen. (Wenn man so durchblättert, wird man ja alsEinsteiger fast erschlagen von der Fülle der Möglichkeiten).Es wird sehr viel (fast nur) in Form von Kollagen gearbeitet und alles darf verwendet werden (alte Photos, Bonbonpapier,Tickets, Knöpfe usw, usw, usw,..)Zunächst (nach den ersten Kapiteln) habe ich gedacht, das wäre nicht mein Ding, da mir der zeichnerische Aspekt zu sehrfehlte,aber nach weiteren Kapiteln fanden sich auch hierzu eine Fülle von Anregungen.Die Skizzen sind in die Kollagen eingebettet (manchmal sehr amerikanisch bunt), aber durch die Fülle der vorgestelltenKünstlern wird hier jeder fündig!!Auch meine Vorbehalte, dass hier so viele "fertige" (vorgefertigte) Komponenten verwendet werden und eben das eigene Zeichnenwenig vorkam, zerschlugen sich, je weiter ich blätterte.Im Gegenteil: es ist taktisch gut aufgebaut: zu Beginn mehr Kollagen (wenig "zeichnen"-Anteil) vielleicht mehr für denambitionierten Anfänger, später mehr und mehr davon....Das Buch macht Lust auf "mehr" - man will selber gleich anfangen!Für jeden Typ ist was dabei. Auch wenn man des Englischen nicht mächtig ist, lohnt sich der Kauf! Es ist ein wundervolles"Bilder" -buch und man entdeckt jedes Mal neue Details.Sehr empfehlenswert.

I have been familiar with Lynne's art for years and have never tired of it. She has an ability to keep it fresh by constantly pushing herself to try new things. This book is a fine examole of that. I was so pleased that this was NOT "how to: book but more of an inspiring and motivating book. The book sings with color and what a treat after a sepia over dose in some of the paper craft magazines of late. I have had the wonderful experience of taking a class from Lynne and this book was able to accomplish the same feeling of renewal and excitement that her class did for me. I tell my students in my journaling and collage classes that what I like about teaching is that I get to see the world through many sets of eyes and this book provides this experience with the fine artists' work included! You need this book!!!!
