It works
This actually works. Not HD but I’m able to get local channels. If you have a Samsung TV and hook up an antenna to the coax cable it will not recognize the antenna. It reverts to Samsung TV and I could not get local networks. This allows connectivity to HDMI port and allows local network stations and others so you can watch these channels when WiFi goes out. I don’t know about other brands of televisions but my Samsung works now with an antenna. You have to have an antenna to make this work. Very pleased…

Wow - great thing to have!
Wow, I am absolutely shocked how much clearer the channels came in simply by changing to this converter with HDMI cord. Before this I got fuzzy in & out channels, now very crisp and clear. The menu is very outdated but the picture makes it a win for me!

Works great, with a little worr
I purchased this device to replace the absolute junk TV tuner on my Hitachi Roku TV set. If that's all I got from this tuner it would have been worth the money. Of course, once you have access to a feature, it becomes a 'must have'. This is where the work came in. The tuner was intermittent in DVR operation. In fact once I plugged in a SSD for recording things went real wonkey. I'd turn the tuner off at night only to find it on in the morning. Recording only worked once in a while. Fast forward/reverse buttons didn't work. As I increased the power supply first from using the TV to a 1 Amp supply, then to a 2 Amp supply things started working much better. The next issue was that recording wasn't dependable. I had less than a 500GB SSdrive, I attributed the problems to that. I increased the drive to try to record a whole hour but it was a mechanical hard drive and that caused it's own problems. The last change was to install a fast 1TB SSD. This is working pretty well. The functions I've tried so far are doing what they are supposed to.

Ordering this is a BAD idea… AVOID
This should be avoided for many reasons, but I’ve listed the most important ones below:• This device is made from the cheapest possible components available. It will without a doubt fail in under a year. If you’re lucky, you’ll make it past the return window, when you can no longer return it.• You’ll definitely have signal issues, even with 100% quality and strength. Nothing you do will fix this because it’s due to using an ultra cheap tuner/receiver chip inside.• GUl (menu) is painfully slow and unresponsive due to lack of memory.• Remote is flimsy and slow to respond. Even if you do actually manage to figure out what the buttons do, you’ll just be waiting and waiting anyway.• Menus are confusing, and remain on-screen too long- like 60 seconds too long. If you don’t press exit, you’ll be waiting a full minute for them to go away.• Sound quality is poor, and sometimes doesn’t exist at all. Again, cheap components.• Don’t bother programming anything as it will reset itself to factory defaults in a day or two on its own. When this happened a third time, I boxed it up and returned it.This could be a great product, if they would’ve used ANY decent quality components, but when EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT is cheap, something will just inevitably fail. I’ll never understand why they don’t just use decent components and make a solid product…Anyway, do yourself a huge favor and just keep looking. Unless you just have time and money to waste, you don’t want this device.

it works for me
Antenna port in my smart TV suddenly stopped working. This converter was much cheaper solution than the port repair. It was easy to connect and set up. My only complaints are: 1) I cannot see TV guide anymore for active channels, 2) signal drops completely too often, and then it takes some time to pick it up. I did not have these issues when the same antenna was connected directly through the TV antenna port. Yet, it works. I'll keep it.

Easy setup, needs good antenna.
Just plug in, scan channels, and watch. A good quality antenna is a must.

Quite Pleased With HW135STB Purchase
The HW135STB performs very well as an OTA tuner and OTA video recorder. Pulls in all OTA local stations just like my Samsung TV. After a bit of a learning curve (not any more than on any TV!), I find the user interface quite intuitive for channel surfing and recording/playback of OTA recordings. The instruction booklet guided me through all the features. I did encounter one problem. The unit would not fast-forward when watching recordings. A very necessary feature for skipping past unwanted segments of a broadcast recording. But the issue was successfully resolved when I contacted MediaSonicUSA's support via email. They provided a firmware update which was easy to install. Much better than returning to Amazon! Good customer support.

It has it's Bugs
It is better than nothing but sometimes when going through the recorded shows list or the episode guide functions it freezes completely and when lucky it resets the whole device but when you are unlucky it just stays frozen and you have to get up and unplug the the dvr.
