Surprisingly inspiring
In our modern, soulless corporate era, it was heartening to read of bootstrapped entrepreneurs growing up to build one of the world's greatest game companies, holding on to their original values as long as possible... before the corporate machine swallowed them whole. This book is superbly written, a fun breeze to read and full of interesting details. I picked it up as a board game enthusiast, but anyone who has enjoyed playing a board game at some point in their lives will get a kick out of it. It features a great condensed history of board games interwoven in the earlier chapters, and always puts developments in the Parker Brothers story in historical and cultural context. One of the best books I've read all year.

Interesting
Interesting book for those looking for how a corporation develops into a household name. Good for general entrepreneurs, but also for those who grew up w/ Parker Bro. games and have a bit of time on their hands to read a non-fiction book. Well-written.

Parker Brothers
This was a true history of one of the most well-known game production companies. I have only begun to delve into the lives of the Parker Brothers, but so far it has been a very interesting book.

monopoly history
This is a perfect companion to Orbanes' other two books about the Monopoly game. If you have an interest in the history of Monopoly, this is good to have. However you would also want Orbanes' History of Monopoly.

Interesting book of board games
For the information presented, it is good, but so much more should have been included about the earliest of the board games.

As good as it gets for business books!
Parker Brothers have made some of the most memorable games and the story of how they came up with them and built an empire is fascinating. This is one of the great business books on the toy industry of which sadly there are few. No attention was placed to video games undercutting board games sloes but otherwise this covers everything you would want to know. The stories are great and the ideas for the games really come to life. For those who want to create board games or understand the toy industry this is a must read.
