Smooth, Mild & Full of Aroma – A Great Everyday Filter Coffee
I’ve been buying illy Classico Filter Coffee regularly for a while now, and it’s become my go-to daily brew. It’s smooth, mild, and perfect for filter coffee machines or a French press. Even though it’s classed as a medium roast, it tastes lighter than many others, which makes it ideal for all-day sipping without being too strong or bitter. The aroma is absolutely lovely—you get that hit of fresh, sweet scent the moment you pop open the tin (and let’s be honest, opening a new tin of coffee is half the joy!). I’ve found it to be good value for money, especially given the consistent quality and balanced flavour. It tastes fresh straight from the tin, and the lid reseals well, keeping the coffee in great condition between uses.If I had one small warning—it’s about the initial opening. The tin is a bit pressurised, so when you pull the tab, the coffee can almost burst out if you're not careful. I recommend opening it slowly and on a flat surface. Not a huge issue, just something to be aware of.I’m now considering trying the whole bean version so I can grind it myself and fine-tune the flavour even more—especially if I want to control coarseness for different brew methods.Pros:✅ Smooth, mild flavour – Perfect for all-day drinking✅ Lovely aroma – Especially when first opened✅ Great in filter machines & cafetières✅ Good value – Premium feel without a sky-high price✅ Lid reseals well – Keeps coffee fresher for longerCons:❌ Pressurised tin pops a bit on first open – Just be cautious and slowFinal Thoughts:This is a reliable, quality coffee that delivers on taste, smoothness, and aroma. If you want something that’s easy to drink, great in a filter machine, and pleasantly fragrant, illy’s Classico filter grind is a great choice—and a lovely way to start the day.Would I recommend it? Absolutely. A classy coffee, without the fuss.

My Go-To Moka Pot Coffee
I’ve tried a lot of coffees for my Moka pot, but I keep coming back to illy’s Classico. It’s smooth, rich, and never bitter, with just the right touch of caramel and chocolate notes. The grind is spot-on for stovetop espresso, and the tin keeps it super fresh. It’s a bit of a splurge, but honestly, totally worth it for the quality and consistency. Every cup feels like a treat.

Good coffee
Good quality coffee for moka pots. The grind works well, and the flavour is smooth with a bit of a chocolatey taste. Just use lower heat and take the pot off the stove toward the end of brewing. I added a paper filter under the basket, which made it even better, a cleaner cup. It’s a bit more expensive than other brands when not on sale, but worth it. I do wish the canister was airtight. I usually finish the coffee within 2–3 weeks of opening and haven’t had any issues with it going stale. I store the canister in the fridge after opening. Solid choice.

Full Flavour and Super Smooth!
Absolutely delicious coffee, not the cheapest but not ridiculously premium money either, and in my view well worth it.

Full of flavour
Lovely ground coffee, full of flavour. I made it in a percolator that I have had for years. It's very finely ground, it works best for me, if the the basket is lined with two filter papers to stop to any filtration through to the finished drink. Usually I find decaf a little insipid, not this one.

Great coffee taste
Great coffee taste, much nicer than Lavazza ORO. Now the price is excellent.

Best of a bad lot
Trying to replace my instant coffee, before I bankrupt myself buying discontinued Lavazza intenso and substitutes. This is the best of a bad lot, very gritty, but at least bears some resemblance to real coffee. I will try their intenso and hope for the best.

Best international shipping I've ever tried. Worth every penny!
1. Grind the illy coffee to a medium consistency or use pre-ground medium grind illy coffee. 2. For drip coffee makers, add a filter and place the ground coffee in the filter. 3. Fill the coffee maker's water reservoir. 4. Close the lid and start the brewing process. 5. For French press preparation, add the ground coffee to the French press, add hot water, and steep for about 4 minutes before pressing the plunger.
Safety Warning
Avoid any improper use of the can. Keep away from sunlight and heat. Caution: can and lid edges may be sharp after opening.

You need to filter or push aside the coffee once the coffee has been in contact with the water for a few minutes (3 or 4 mins ideally). All the usual methods work well.
