Old Dutch International Griffe MTB Bonus Pack Rogue

I've been on a journey with a 2003 GT Palomar. I didn't care for how it rode, fit or shifted, when it was given to me new in 2004. So after a few short rides it was put in shed. When it saw daylight for a ride in 2013, it was hit on the rear wheel by a car. The wheel was bent so badly that I was barely able to limp it home with the V-brakes released. Then it went back in the shed.In 2021, it saw daylight again as I was going to junk it. I didn't think the cost of a wheel straightening, or new wheel and tune up at a bike shop was justified on a 20 year old $230 bicycle. But, it had less than 100 miles on it and seemed to be comparable with some new bikes in the $500 and up range. So I cleaned it up and figured I'd try to fix, service and sell it.I watched videos, then fixed the indexed shifting and straightened the wheel. From there the old GT got a full tear down, cleaning and service.On a test ride, it was smoother and quieter than anything I'd ever owned. At this point, because of it's age, I figured no one would give me what I felt it was worth. It also had a Chrome Moly frame, which I prefer the ride of, over newer aluminum frames.So, I decided to try to make it fit me better instead of selling it.I replaced the stock seat post with an Orign8 400mm and the bars with Bucklos risers to make the bike fit better.While, it fit better it still wasn't right. So, I thought new grips would feel better and might help with the fit and handling issues.Based on some research and reviews, I decided to try the ODI grips. Especially as several reviews mentioned that they were comfortable and fit larger hands.Even though they were longer than the 100mm stock grips on the GT, I ordered them in.Hindsight being 20/20, I ordered these grips, before trying to simulate how a 130mm grip would feel on my bars with the grip shifters. When I simulated a narrower hand position on the bars during a ride, I found that the bike felt worse. But, when I tried a wider hand placement on the bars, the bike rode better.So I figured when the ODI grips arrived, I'd return them and began searching for grips that seemed as plush as the ODI, but narrower than the stock 100mm grips I had. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything else I wanted to try.When the ODI grips arrived and I put my hands around them, they felt great. They are very comfortable. Firm, but have give when squeezed and are not slick on a bare hand. They are also larger, outer diameter, than my stock grips. But, they were too long for what I wanted.After looking at how the grips are constructed and how the locking rings work, I decided to try to modify them to meet my needs.I took a measurement, a deep breath and felt stupid taking a hacksaw to these brand new grips. A utility knife and file were also used to complete the job.In the end, the modification worked perfectly and the grips are maybe 80mm now. They solidly lock on to the bars, feel great and work perfectly with my Revoshift shifters.I've done about 100 miles so far, bare hands and with light gloves, both on pavement and light trails. All has been good and comfortable.No regrets on this purchase and I bought another set to replace the old Oury's on my 2006 Cannondale F2000SL.Please know the grips did not solve my riding and handling problems with the GT.I found more video's on riding position and eventually, after gradually lowering my seat about 1/2" and moving it forward about 1/4", the bike became a great handling, stable, ride. I also played with rolling my bars, shifters and brake levers slightly forward and backward until I found the "sweet spot".In the end, the final piece of the puzzle was swapping the Bucklos 620mm risers for 720mm carbon handlebars. I took a chance that extra 100mm in width would solve the handling issues I still had and it did.Hope this helps and ride safe.

What a big difference between the ODI grips and the stock grips that came with my MTB. The ODI are thicker so are a better fit for my hands, as well as being soft, pliable, and comfortable without going flat or falling apart like some foam grips would. Because of how soft they are, they also grip well, without feeling like they are sticky or coated in some kind of adhesive. Just to give you an idea of its grip, once properly installed with the locking rings, if you grab the grips as tight as possible and try to twist, your hand, nor the grip, is going anywhere.

Love these grips. Tacky and tough.

Just got around to installing today for the 2021 race season and here are a few observations:- The end caps snap into place and when you tighten the screws down, that holds the end caps in place. Awesome./- Each bar end has two clamps, one on each end to hold them into place. This is critical to safety when you're blasting down a trail and relying on your bar ends to lock into place.- There are 4 screws stuffed inside the bar ends which aren't all to apparent when you're opening the set.- They're grippy, feel safe and cushy to absorb some trail vibrations.Overall, I'm happy.Can't wait for Spring to come in Lovely Georgia / South Carolina to start enjoying the off road trails.Try some.Greg

I have had this grip on a number of standup jetskis and they are the best. The grip is easy to install and is larger and much more tacky to hold on to. I cannot find a negative to these grips they are a huge improvement from stock grips.

These are nice but I was hoping they'd alleviate the numbness in my hands, unfortunately they don't. Otherwise, I like everything about them. The oversize grip is right for my gloved hands, they have just the right amount of tackiness and they feel sturdy, best described as a sure grip. I'd purchase again unless I could find grips that were a sure bet to alleviate my hand numbness.

Slightly a bit more technical to assemble than others I have used. Takes some extra force to fit or snap the clamps and end caps on, but that probably keeps them together much better. Not really a big issue. I like bulk or thickness feel of them while my hands are around them. Stay in place don't slip or turn on non-glossy carbon bars. Soft comfortable feel on the hands, not as soft as the WTB Waffle grips, but I am sure they will last longer because of the thick rubber pattern instead of a bunch of thin rubber fins that soften in the heat and wear and get sticky quicker. Was surprised to see that they were labeled on the grips Made in the U.S.A Will be buying these again when needed as replacements.
