I don't have the old belt. How tight should I make this to fit correctly?

Not too tight as it will tear at the clip. Now instead of the leather belt I'm using a poly belt on my old singer.

no idea, but why don't your purchase it and if it doesn't, send back to Amazon ? I used the belt on an old treadle "Honeymoon" 1900 sewing machine. I'm not sure about # you are requesting....my old treadle didn't come with a model #, just the name.

I have thd belt install but it just slips instead of turning the shaft. Any advice?

Oil your machine very very thoroughly at the hand wheel; you should be able to spin it freely with a finger. Your belt may need shortened, as they do stretch. Simply unbend the staple, cut it shorter, and repeat the installation steps for replacing it. The belt may also be extremely dry. It will pick up oil from the machine over time, but I do give mine a head start with a little paste wax. Once your belt length is good, have some paste wax on your fingers, and loosely hold them on the belt, allowing it to slip through them as you treadle. Hope that helps!

I would say yes, if it's too long you can always cut it
