Absolutely the best machine in my shop
Absolutely the best machine in my shop. I ordered the helical cutter head, and I cannot express how pleased I am with the quality of my work.

Bad Experiance All Around For Me
I purchased my jointer directly from Baileigh. I was excited to have this machine in my shop. When it arrived I noticed it was crated well and quickly removed the crate. There were several imperfections in the paint. Looked like they packed it while the paint was wet and the packing wrinkled the paint in a few spots. There were also bits of other colored paints here and there. It's a tool though so I wasn't worried about the appearance. I cleaned and degreased the machine and put several coats of wax on all the bare iron. ran a few test pieces through it, made a few minor adjustments and thought I was off and running. I run mostly hardwoods in my shop and found that the dust collection was constantly plugging up. I checked my collection system and found nothing wrong so I had someone come check the airflow. I then contacted support at Baileigh for some assistance. First they told me my air flow was good and if I am going to run hardwoods through this unit I had to remove some plastic piece from near the blade. Okay??? How do I get at that without taking the whole machine apart. They sent me instructions and I removed the plastic. This resulted in no change to the performance. I went around and around with support trying all kinds of their ideas to no avail. This included taping some air holes shut on the inside of the unit, removing the dust collection port and shimming it out and running without the port on the unit. The dust collection port on this unit is a flat plate with a hole in it and in my opinion the problem but they weren't about to admit that and kept coming up with more things to try. I think their service model is to wear you down so you just go away. I also noticed that the fence has a bow in it of 0.057" their response was that is within tolerance so there was nothing they could do about that. There is a little plastic insert in the fence that was recessed enough that boards would catch on it. After several emails they sent me instructions to move the insert out so boards wouldn't catch. After roughly 3 months of trouble with my machine I ordered the yellow one that I should have just ordered in the first place.I also have a 12" Baileigh cabinet saw that had poor dust collection on it that I reworked to make proper on my own.Bottom line is Baileigh makes cheap machines that need more engineering and adjustments to their design before letting them out on the market. Their metalworking equipment might be good but from what I have experienced with their woodworking equipment I wouldn't take it for free.
