REQUIRES DOUBLE WIRING
I bought this to install in the basement we just finished. Mostly to play music during parties and also to hook into the tv if we have parties for the "big game" etc. so the sound can be broadcast though-out the entire basement. We pre-wired three speaker locations to cover the entire 1500 sq ft.THE GOOD:Very easy to install. Take the little card board template, draw your circle, drill a pilot hole, and cut it out. (I used a fine tooth saw-zaw blade by hand since we had already painted the ceiling and I didn't want it to chip/scuff the ceiling, but a jig saw would have probably done fine. Either way is ok, dry wall is easy to saw. On a ladder I used one hand to hold the speaker and the other to easily make the connections. The connecters are easy to work with one hand. I then just inserted into the ceiling, pulled the screw drive our of my pocket (don't forget to do this or you will be down the ladder with your speaker dangling from wire)... screwed in four screws that snap out and then down the little brackets that hold the speaker snug to the ceiling from inside the ceiling, and inserted the grill (which covers the speaker and the screws). Easy as can be.Another point: circles are easier to install then rectangles. If you are considering buying rectangle speakers, consider how good you are and making things square, plumb, etc. And also consider that even if you are good at it, your drywall installers, even if they worked for a good builder, may not be. So you ceiling and/or wall may not be at right angles to each other. If you install in ceiling close to a wall, or in wall close to a ceiling, you may end up with a speaker that looks crooked one way or another. And even if the walls and ceiling are all straight, it's still hard to stand on a ladder, measure the how far each corner is to your nearest reference point, set the template etc. With circles, these problems go away.Quick wiring tip:1. When you do the initial wiring, make sure you leave enough slack so that the wire hangs and least three feet down lower then the ceiling. It make connecting the wire to the speaker much easier when standing on a ladder to not have to be making the connections over your head. You'd rather have it waist high. So leave enough slack, it easily tucks up into the ceiling when the speaker is installed.THE BAD:2. I mentioned that I wired for three speakers. I bought the "Polk Audio RC60i" Since they come in pairs, I wanted to buy a single 3rd speaker instead of buying a second pair and having one left over. So I made the mistake of buying this product, the very similar "Polk Audio RC6s" for my third speaker without reading enough of the description or reviews. Based on other descriptions, and the performance of the "Polk Audio RC60i" that I did get to work. this speaker probably works fine.HOWEVER, it requires two sets of speaker wire, not one. I of course had one set of wire to each speaker location. I now know that this is both a left and right speaker all in one little package. So it didn't work for me. I ended up buying a second set of "Polk Audio RC60i", and it now works perfectly. So if you do the same, either run two sets of wire or just buy yourself a second set of "Polk Audio RC60i"... The set is not much more money then the single "Polk Audio RC6s" anyway.I am rating this a five based upon looks, ease of installation, and the performance of the sister product "Polk Audio RC60i" that I have installed. I am not going to rate it down because I am a dope and didn't read enough of the description or reviews before buying.Polk Audio RC60i In-Ceiling / In-Wall Speakers (Pair, White)

Great speaker - but needs a box
I installed this speaker in my bathroom ceiling, but built a 12X12X8 box for it. Made a huge difference. This speaker is made so well and solved my stereo issue, where I only wanted one speaker for a two channel wall mounted Bluetooth unit.

Good choice
The speakers sound very good, as most people seem to agree. But the rotating cam locks are not perfect. I installed two speakers, one in the dining area and the other in the kitchen. The kitchen speaker is underneath the second floor, but the other one is open to the attic. After it was installed, I ventured into the attic and found that one of the cam locks had caught the slack speaker wire underneath it. So make sure the wire is out of the way if you have a lot of slack in it. The second time I went in the attic, I found that one of the cams wasn't tight, and when I pushed it around it fell into position. I went back downstairs and tightened the screw. The other speaker isn't accessible from the back so I can't check that one, but it seems to be okay. The cam locks can also be a little confusing to tighten, because they seem to swing out counter-clockwise. It seems like you should turn the screw counter-clockwise, but they do tighten up by turning the screw clockwise. A sticker on the packaging (which seems like an afterthought) also tells you to tighten the screws by using a power drill on the "torque 2" setting. I do appreciate being given a finite number for tightening. However, I was dismayed that Polk doesn't offer guidance on what to do about installing the speaker in an open attic. I was more concerned about dust and insulation getting on the back of the speaker, as opposed to air leaks, etc., so I made an enclosure out of two Owens Corning pink project boards from Home Depot. You can use foam board adhesive and drywall screws to hold the box together. I made mine about 11 x 12 x 24 inches, but Polk recommends a minimum of .6 cubic feet. Their website has subwoofer box plans, and .6 is equal to 15 x 12 x 11 inches.

Sounds awesome, perfect for my bathroom!
I just renovated my bathroom and wanted a ceiling speaker but only have room for one. Because this one speaker is like a left and right in one, its better than having two separate ones and it sounds SO GOOD! Full range of highs and lows and so clear. I put a FOSI audio BT20A in my attic to power it, and I just connect and control volume from my phone.Just be careful- I ordered an amazon warehouse one and the box was correct but the speaker was a lesser model, and I had to return to get the correct one. Make sure to check the model number on the actual speaker!

At a glance, install instructions are misleading
When I opened the product, on top was the template (photo attached) that noted TEMPLATE / PAINT MASK / 6.5". One might think that the template was for the hole to be cut to fit the speaker AND the hole was 6.5" in diameter. I promptly purchased (from Amazon) an adjustable hole saw capable of up to 7". Given the data on hand, that was a smart purchase. Besides, every guy needs a 7" hole saw.Upon preparation for installation, the hole was not 6.5" but 7.675". This exceeded the hole saw limit by 10%. Fortunately, with some creative engineering, the hole saw was adjusted to meet the size (an off label use).Polk has been a staple in my audio system for years. I have a pair of Polk towers in the great room, Bookshelves in the office and now Polk in my workshop.
