Is this large enough to sit on chairs under it?

We have had many days with 2 chairs under the Brella. It is often difficult to get the best position relative to the wind direction and the moving sun. Be prepared to move if necessary.

Can this be fitted to a "brolly mate", a bracket that holds umbrella to a tiller bar on a boat?

Can’t answer that for sure, this is a lot heavier and sturdier than an ordinary umbrella

How easy would this be to take on a plane?

The brolly packs vey small, about the size of an average fishing rod, however, weather it would survive the rough and tumble of the luggage handlers I don't know?

Can it be used standing up? Does the pole extend to make it taller?

I have not tr4ied it but my view is that you need to sit or lie down. If is basically a wind break or sun shade.
