HELL NO!! these are basically external socks to prevent rocks from getting into your shoes. Look for snake proof boots (know they are big and heavy) if snakes are a big issue for you.

I wear a altra women's lone peak mid hiking shoe, and there does not appear to be any velcro at the heel. how would i use these gaitors?

Mine came with both a heel and front velcro to connect
