Ideal for starters
As a complete novice picker this would appear to be an ideal introduction into a new skill set. The set seems robust and likely to last. It comes in a handy, pocket size case, and with the added bonus of a credit card sized additional set which fits easily into my wallet, and is therefore readily available. The range of picks seems to be more than adequate with a number of rakers (a new term for me) and single picking tools. It also has some picks, which I think, could retrieve a broken off key from a lock, though I haven't tried this, and would rather not have to! The practice lock is excellent for seeing how a typical padlock works and I opened it within seconds. That could be a problem with all such locks, because I want to practice my technique and this lock opens far too easily to see if your technique is improving. When I have tried to open some of my bike locks, they provide a much sterner challenge. One thing could be improved in the set, in my opinion, and that is that the two tensioner tools in the main set are both the same width, though slightly different thicknesses, and I would have appreciated either one of them to be slightly narrower to enable greater access to smaller locks, or an additional tool. The tensioner tool in the credit card set has two different widths, and so you can always use this for smaller locks, but it does seem strange that such an inexpensive addition could not be provided for the main set. All in all a great set; I can thoroughly recommend them for the price and quality. All I need now is a variety of locks to practise on!

Fancy Testing Your Skills against LOCKS (maybe even handcuffs lol)
Ever fancied becoming James Bond, a cat burglar or simply a great lock picker just for fun, or even to get yourself back in to your home, office or to impress your friends, well this is definitely the set to buy, I spent a few hours reviewing various sellers and manufacturers of lock picks before deciding which one to buy. This all inclusive kit by "The LockCowboy" comes with a 20-piece lock pick set,, they are well presented in a case and seems to include everything you could possible need become a "locksmith", and I love the inclusive transparent practice lock, which comes with keys, and it allows you to see just how a lock works on the inside. The picks etc come well packaged in a sturdy cardboard bow and contains a lock, crochet hooks, and a leather bag. The James Bond credit card kit (which I initially though made this a set for kids) is actually cool and has a mini set of five tools inside, I love it because to most people they would think it was just some kiddies play credit card from a spy set or something, but it is in fact very functional and yes it will actually fit into your wallet. You get a couple of great e-guides (books) to help get you started and hopefully take you and your skills from novice to advanced to maybe even a pro level locksmith.Lock picking is a skill, mainly practised by locksmiths (the people who open doors when you cant) it is an advanced skill that requires patience, practice and lots of training. It is also a sport and a great way to impress friends at parties etc. these lock picking tools are of great quality and if used properly I believe will last you a long time, in fact they believe in them so much that offer a lifetime guarantee.I'm not experienced but i do have a friend who is a professional, he had a look and said that this set is very comprehensive, so I felt my research time had paid off. My friend said that this gives you everything you need in order to learn the trade and laughed at my trying this followed by am I going to have competition lol, he has fifteen years experience on me so I don't think that will be happening any time soon.So to summarise this professional lock pick set includes the following: A 15-Piece Lock Pick Set with Case (this fits nicely in your pocket), a cool 5-piece James Bond credit card that is wallet sized, a see through (Transparent Cutaway Padlock) complete with Keys. A beginners quick start e-guide with a couple of videos and illustrations and an advanced MIT guide to lock picking.Personally having fun trying this out, looking forward to trying to crack a load of old locks that we have in the garage :-) hope you have as much fun as I am having, enjoy the set and share your experiences.PS. I forgot to mention that the e-guides are emailed to your account, simply click "Your Account" scroll down to "Buyer/Seller Messages" and you will find them there attached as a PDF, have to say the staff are very good, polite and like to ensure you have a great service.PPS. Just in case your wondering I chose this item after reviewing similar items, and was happy to pay for a great product.

Great buy!
It’s really cool, a nice hobby or time waster to have on the side, and a real practical one at that. The lock is built with metal and resin it seems, and feels high quality, the tools, they can be improved as they’re quite thin, but overall excellent for the price point.

Overall this is an excellent product, WELL worth the money and extremely good value. The first thing that is apparent when you open the shipping package is the quality of the items – excellent – everything is well made. The pin tumbler lock-pick set is comprehensive. The transparent lock body is very good for use as either a self-training/practice tool or as a lock-pick teaching tool. The PDF file is comprehensive and should provide ample information to get the budding lock-smith started and eventually (if the information is understood and applied) proficient. There are a number of aspects which I believe warrant mention.i) Most important! Although it is briefly mentioned I do not believe that it is stated forcefully enough – mere carriage of the lock-pick tools in the UK (unless qualified as a professional lock-smith) would constitute ‘going equipped to steal’ and if discovered during a stop-search by the police is an arrest-able offence! The cash-card concealed set in particular would be a difficult situation to defend.Keep and use these only on your own premises.ii) The first opening technique explained in the guide – described as ‘raking’ in the first part – ‘scrubbing’ in the second should also include the caveat that those techniques whilst effective (and promote early confidence!) are also damaging to the lock pins – consider – steel tools raking/scrubbing over the brass pins equals wear and ultimately a situation where the original keys will not open the lock. The raking/scrubbing method should be kept limited and individual pin picking the main aim.iii) This last point relates to the ‘shear-line’ between the lock barrel and the tumbler pins. If you know what you are looking for (and/or use the supplied diagrams to assist) it is relatively easy to identify the shear line through the key end of the lock as the acrylic is crystal clear – through the side of the lock not so much, due to the density of the acrylic and light refraction. I suggest the introduction of a thin red line within the acrylic at the shear line (and perhaps one on the spring side of the pins at the point where they align when a key is inserted) just on one side of the lock during the lock production process would be very useful.
