Tough, easy to work with, attic is much cooler
Tough material, like tyvec house wrap coated with aluminum sheet on both sides. I messed up and stapled a couple of pieces wrong, but when ripped them off to remove them and reattach it left only a small tear the size of the staple and didn't rip at all. Works great as an insulation dam for the first row, don't waste your money on the cheap foam insulation dams, you can just cut these to 28" wide x 4' pieces for your first row and tuck them between the rafters and staple them to the top cap of your wall leaving an air space between the radiant barrier and roof decking. Then when you blow in insulation you can push it right against the radient barrier without affecting your ventilation. Could tell the difference in heat as I was putting it up, attic is alot cooler now. Hard to tell how much it contributed to my electric bill because I also airsealed gaps and added insulation, but AC is running 2 hours less a day and it's not even I'm the hot summer months yet.

Great value and thick
Great value, very solid and thick for the price. Surprisingly heavy. Did my entire attic with one roll and 1/4 the price of what I was projected to spend.

Great Stuff, 1st class product
Update 1 Oct 2024: Discovered an issue potential buyers should be aware of; roof leaks. I was waiting for temps to cool before resuming my attic work and Hurricane Helene’s outer rain bands reached us making for much cooler, wetter weather. I noticed some black spots on the underside of the roof decking in areas I had not yet covered. Each black spot was a wet area where a nail holding a shingle had worked loose allowing rain water to seep in around the nail hole. Not the fault of the product, but I never thought about the possibility of a roof leak. I had to remove quite a few staples to lower the material enough to get an inspection camera in to check. Hope this helps! This barrier product has exceeded my expectations. This is a true perforated, laminated aluminum faced and backed product with a very, very strong scrim. This is not the potato chip bag metalized Mylar film stuff that tears when you look at it. No comparison. This Houseables branded product is imported from you know where but put your concerns to rest; this is top shelf material.I am in the middle of installing 2K linear feet of the barrier and stopped to post my findings.1. Easy to handle as it is a heavy gauge material that doesn’t rip. About as thick as 4 sheets of heavy duty grilling type Reynolds’s Wrap.2. Cuts super easy with scissors. You can use a box cutter, but I found scissors much easier.3. Easily tacked up with 1/4” or 3/8” staples. The foil has some rigidity and that’s a good thing.4. Heavy weight. A full box is more than 31 pounds. You will want to pre measure pieces in a comfortable place, roll em up and take ‘em to the attic to install.I noticed a significant reduction in the attic as I was putting the stuff up. Outside temp had been 70-72 F but cloudy. Attic temps were 80-85 F. Then the sun came out and attic temps shot up to 105 F in less than 30 minutes. As I was lifting up the 1st sheet, I could feel the heat reduction on my face. It was significant..When I finish the job, I’ll update but for now, I’m happy as a hog in the mud.

Thick, heavy duty.
Stuff is thick, like heavy duty aluminum foil doubled or tripled over. Not easy to tear so if you do staple it where you didn’t mean, just pull on it to try again. Of course working with something that thick has its challenges as well. In tight spaces, it can be unwieldy to work with. I used a miter saw to cut it in half while still rolled, nice straight cut all through it and I don’t have to worry about a wavy cut doing it by hand.Overall it’s installed and 2 months later i’m still looking for a difference in my bill. Can’t really tell. However, when in the attic, you can feel the heat placing your hand near it, moving a foot or so away, the heat dissipates. Going to a none applied section of the roof you can tell the heat penetrates straight through, so I would say it’s doing something. The idea behind our purchase was to keep the a/c ducting in the attic cooler, therefore making the a/c not have to work so hard cooling hot pipes before reaching the dwelling areas of the house. With proper technique this stuff is easy to apply, after crawling around on my back long enough, trial and error, a short crash course from a pro and an immeasurable amount of sweat, it’s too bad I only needed to do my attic.

Good product
I added 4” of insulation and this radiant barrier to my attic. I could immediately feel the difference in my house. Very effective, I used thermal imaging before and after. The results were surprisingly good.

Reduced the Radiant Heat in My Attic
Installed the radiant barrier in my attic and noticed an immediate difference. During installation I checked the temperatures of the attic roofing on a sunny day. The wood sheathing without the radiant barrier was 137 degrees, and the area covered by the radiant barrier was 93 degrees. My HVAC was able to keep the set temperature through days with 115 degrees heat index, something it couldn't do last year without the barrier. I also appreciate the need for a radiant barrier more now. When I was taking temperature reading with my infrared thermometer I could feel the radiant heat on my face when standing under the uncovered roof sheathing, and, the area under the radiant barrier was noticeably cooler. I rec getting a battery powered staple gun, I used over 2,000 staples and it was much easier to just pull the trigger.

I noticed a difference right away.

It looked to be great quality for value
A friend found out I was doing and gave me foam board panels. I would have used this on top but I had rented a lift and it came too late
