This changed my view of wifi extenders
I've never been a fan of wifi extenders in terms of reliability and performance, preferring powerline wifi adaptors, or (where possible), putting wifi extenders into Access Point mode (also known as ethernet backhaul), but of course this depends on being able to run ethernet to another location, which for many, defeats the object of the simplicity of wifi extenders.Having upgraded my main wifi router to the Archer AX90 (tri band with Wifi 6 and OneMesh functionality), I thought I'd give these OneMesh-compatible extenders a go. Although the router does provide a good signal 2 floors up, the RE505X does extend the coverage, and also offers the convenience of wifi-to-ethernet connectivity for devices needing a wired connection. Although not perfect, the OneMesh system is definitely more reliable than normal wifi repeater mode, and connecting direct to the RE505X, I'm able to achieve approx. 200Mbps download speeds, 2 floors away from the router (500Mbps closer to the router), which for most uses is more than enough - my mobile supports WiFi 6 and 1200Mbps link connection to the extender.

Reasonable priced wifi 6 link
Used this to create a fast dedicated wifi link for Oculus quest 2 VR headset (which also supports wifi6). I set the RE505X up as a wireless AP using the web interface. Some people have returned this item as they report AP mode does not support wifi 6. However after some research and testing I believe this does support wifi 6 in AP mode. TPlink support say that although the web interface reports only 802.11a/n/ac on 5Ghz it actually does connect at 802.11ax speeds (1200Mbps). Tested with the Virtual Desktop Quest 2 app and it showed full 1200Mbps link speed, whereas with my ac router it gave 866Mbps link speed. A lot cheaper than buying a full wifi6 router for this purpose.I skipped the quick setup and did everything manually. Separate 2.4,5Ghz channels sharing same SSID, set the 5Ghz channel to 802.11a/n/ac mixed. Hope that helps someone.

RE505X AX1500
For the avoidance of doubt this is for the RE505X AX1500 with Wi-fi 6. I’m using the AX11000 router which doesn’t support mesh as yet.I’ve got this connected in a bedroom that I’m using as a home office and have an ageing PC connected to the Ethernet port.I was using powerline adaptors but as the upstairs and downstairs sockets are on a different circuit the speeds I was getting fluctuated & often dropped with a max speed of about 25mbps. I’m now getting almost 200mpbs so a substantial improvement and no issues with drop out.I’ve connected it to the Wi-fi 6 on my router, I’ve split the SSIDs so I know 100% it’s connected to the Wi-fi 6 channel.A decent product and well worth the money.

Transfer speed is slower then a older one from 2015
I got the "TP-Link RE505X AX1500 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Range Extender"I have my NAS running from the TP-Link RE505X gigabit ethernet port and i'm only getting 15MB/san old BT Range Extender was giving me 35MB/s and an older netgear was doing 10MB/sbut the netgear only had 100BASE-T and when i plug the NAS direct into the router i get 108MB/sall data is over the 5Ghz and not the 2.4GhzUpdate I was on latest EU firmware and was getting only 15MB/s and i was about to return itbut i download the latest UK firmware when i was on the TP Link site I did the updateand from the get go I'm now getting 60+MB/s 4X the transfer speed over thisI am now happy with this Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Range Extender.

Its a lot slower then expected
This may be down to my own naivety, but using this when paired with a Wifi6 router caused the whole system to slow down. I expected to maintain my fast Wifi speed across the whole network, but I now get only 30-50 mbs on wifi, instead of the 250 I had from my router alone.Apparently (according to the makers) this is normal, as it takes time to send the signal from your device to the extender, then to the router, then back to the extender, and back to the router - although when I had a cheap extender on my old non-Wifi 6 network it was much faster. Also, I need to reboot this every other day, or everything stops working, which is incredibly frustrating. So, I wouldnt recommend this, unless you dont mind a slow speed, and you can put up with constantly shutdowns.
