Q: I need to know if it will fit on my shelf: what is the total height of the pot with lid, and the diameter of the pot?

Diameter of just the pot is 10 1/2 inches. Diameter out to double handles is @14 inches Height with lid reversed for storage 9 inches. Height with lid handle up is 12 1/2 Inches.

Q: Does the small steamer basket store separately or does this all fit together for storage?

It fits inside the pot for storage

Q: Is there a 2-3 inch gap from pasta strainer insert touching the bottom of pot?

I have not measured it but I believe it’s at least 2 inches. It is definitely adequate for steaming larger items. We use the smaller steamer for most veggies.

Q: What is the dimension of the bottom of the pot? Thanks

Bottom diameter is around 9 inches.
