Yes, but it's very slow and will become very warm, especially if the files are large (for example a movie) You have to use the Files app built in to the iPad, another file manager like Readdle Documents will not recognise it.

Q: Is the cover meant to 'wobble' and make a rattle noise when holding the usb end and shaking? if so, this is very poor build quality for the price

I have been using this for more than 2 years and is very happy with it. Yes the rotating cover is not firm and "loose", but for nd it's fine. If you feel it's not yo your liking you can always have it replaced or get a refund from seller.

It could be possible, but.....the Flash Drive has USB-C and USB 3 connector only. Your iphone I think only have a lightning connector. So first you have to get a Lightnkng to USB-C converter and may need to format the drive to take apple file format. You may be better off using a cloud service instead.
