Q: where are these brackets manufactured?

My packing indicated it was from UK, but the packing materials looked like they were from somewhere else. Either way, it is a beautifully made and finished piece, and SONOS fits correctly.

Q: How wide it the wall bracket?

The bracket is +/- 3" wide x 4" high x 4" deep and is specifically designed to grip the SONOS feet. I don't think it would serve other purposes. However, it is really excellent at its intended job and is essentially invisible when installed.

Q: Can the speaker be rotated 90 degrees (but still vertical), so that the speaker fires along the mounting wall rather than out from the mounting wall?

The bottom of the speaker has two protrusions that fit in the slots you see in the bottom of the mounting bracket. I think those are what holds the speaker stable. you could use a strong double sided tape to secure the speaker or you could just build your own mount by bending some decent ga. aluminum or heavy sheet metal. I also would prefer my rear wall mounted spkrs to face the seating. The spkrs are directional.
