A scientist embraces spirituality
Bruce Lipton, PhD, a cell biologist was a professor and researcher at the University of Wisconsin and had done stem cell research. At that time in his life his career was going well but his life was in a shambles so he up and moved to the Bahamas and taught cell biology to Med. Students. While there he observed the ecosystem and was away from the dogma of academia and he had an epiphany! He saw the individual cells in our bodies not as individuals but as a community of 50 trillion cells working together in harmony! He made the leap from individual cells to a community, to individual people and species coexisting on earth and the earth as a community of beings - alive! He went on to shatter the old meme of Darwin's that said species were in competition with each other to a new frame of reference that all species needed each other. Then he had a breakthrough realization that DNA did not control our lives, but the environment had a hand in our evolution so he postulates that what we think changes what we experience - just like what happens when an individual cell encounters a foreign environment - it thinks for itself and makes changes to survive and protect.Where before Bruce wasn't really spiritual, he certainly is now. I find the book interesting and enlightening.

Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny :)
lets take cancer genes. He makes a strong case for the environment AKA you internal body's PH, stress hormone levels, blood toxicity, and a host of other risk factors for cancer are more influential than the dreaded cancer gene. Its just one factor that the news takes advantage of to keep people living in fear and victims of their parents genes and belts, only kidding. But really he makes the case, as a cell biologist and teacher of cellular biology, that genes expression is more dependent on internal environmental factors. At least that what i took away from it. It scientifically strengthened my belief that the cancer gene curse is just one relatively small risk factor of cancer susceptibility. Now, I believe positive beliefs are the best way to balance the internal system and one of if not the best defense against cancer. Along with a healthy diet and good exercise habits offset the cancer predisposition. I must add that most people don't get genetic testing they just go off of one family member having cancer. If you parents smoked and got lung cancer, throat cancer maybe it was the hundreds of chemicals in the cigarette that gave them cancer and not some genetic predisposition. Don't tell them that, just don't smoke cigarettes and the chances of you getting lung cancer are slim to none. This is just what crystallized for me after reading The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton.

Get what you want - if you believe in it!
Bruce Lipton is just one of many scientists and authors stating the same discovery: what we think and intent is what we are able to see and get in life. For more scientific evidence of Lipton's (and others) theories read Lynne Mc Taggarts "The Field" and "The intention Experiment".Bruce Lipton reveals in his book our ability of changing conscious beliefs. He states, that he is not certified in changing unconscious beliefs and refers for that matter to PSYCH-K.Personally, Bruce Liptons book - and the following I've read and studied - changed my life 180 degrees and has given me emotionally, physically, professionally and monetary a fulfillment which I would never have dreamed of before. But then again: These new discoveries are for those who are able, willing and open to understand them. And if you do: nothing can hold you back to realize yourself the way you want to!!The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the WorldThe Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the UniversePSYCH-K...The Missing Peace In Your Life!Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future (and a Way to Get There from Here)

POWERFUL SHIFT
Bruce Lipton moves us further into the new wave of shifting our internal beliefs and perceptions to take better control of our genes and outcomes. This is indeed a contribution to the new psychology and ties with Wayne Dyer's Excuses Begone and William Glasser's Choice Theory ..a New Psychology of Personal Freedom. We have lived too long in our modern societies with blame and predeterminism, reducing personal responsibility to a limited place. It is refreshing to read how we can and must take control of our lives and learn how to influence our young so that they can direct their lives and outcomes without falling prey to external controls such as bullies, blame and propaganda. As a child worker and educational consultant I have found this information an inspiration to further direct children in how to get in touch with their belief system before detrimental beliefs and attitudes can contaminate their path to personal freedom and fulfillment but even more so to preserve personal wellness and mental healthDaphni Clifton , Vancouver, BC
