Who needs a ladder?
This thing nicely fills the gap between what you'd use hand pruners and pole loppers for, specifically branches just over your head to about nine feet high. I have grape arbors just under eight feet high, and this thing has been great for pruning those, as well as for branches on trees and large shrubs that I used to do with a ladder and/or pole lopper. I didn't think I'd find much use for the "grabber" function, but I found that it sped things up to be able to drop cuttings into a container as I went, rather than letting them fall and then gathering them up later like I used to. The rotating handle is a slick feature that anyone will appreciate, especially those with some grip impairment. Some commenters complained that it won't cut large branches, but I don't think that's a fair comparison since its blade is the same size as typical hand clippers, which you wouldn't try to use for large branches either. Besides, it comes with a wickedly sharp saw blade for that. I wish I'd seen this years ago!

Light and works well
Received it today and used it right away and LVOE IT! I keep my fruit trees within 6 to 7 ft tall and some of them got a little taller than that. Rather than getting a ladder to trim them, ordered this and hoped for best. It didn't disappoint. Extended it to 7ft long and able to reach the middle area and trim all that got too high. The light weight helped to manage aiming high to reach without straining my arms. It make the task maintaining my new orchard so much easier with this long pruner. The cost is worth it!

Light and sharp pruners and saw.
Perfect for keeping palo verde tree branches from hitting the house. The grabber on pruners work well at bringing down cut limbs stuck in the tree. Handle and pruner is easily adjusted to cut branches to the collar properly. Sharp enough small branches are cut cleanly without multiple cuts.

Wow, just wow!
I found this because the cheaper Chinese version of this I bought (and loved while it worked) broke a few weeks after the return window closed. They decided to save a few bucks by building the grip out of plastic where it connects to the cutting mechanism, so when it broke the entire thing was rendered completely useless. This Japanese version is a lot more expensive, is a bit heavier, is a lot studier, and the grip mechanism is indeed made of metal.Looks like the greatest garden tool I've ever bought and I expect this one to last a lifetime. 5-stars!

Very easy to use
Although it did not came with manual, it was very easy to set up. My wife is happy because its not heavy, it’s very sharp and with the saw blade big trunks can be easily cut. I like it’s performance and price is good.

I wish I'd bought this tool years!
This pruner is fantastic. It's very light weight, has a sharp blade and is very easy to use. It doesn't hurt my shoulder when reaching higher-up branches like the heavier ones do. I highly recommend it!

Outstanding Pruner
At first I was really annoyed. After several weeks of waiting, the pruner arrived, we couldn't get it to work, and the directions were only in Japanese. I then wrote to the seller/manufacturer, requesting directions in English... but there was no reply. Luckily, after fooling around with it some more, we finally got it to operate. It's a terrific pruner. (Our last one had a nylon rope to activate the shears... and it would break with agonizing regularity.) This one also comes with a saw for thicker branches, btw. It easily telescopes to get to those out-of-reach branches so you no longer have to use a ladder.

Quality Japanese Product
Instructions in Japanese, but simple to use. As noted elsewhere, the safety lever was jammed into receiver and difficult to release, set. I removed and filed off maybe a 1/32" off the end. Works great now. I really like the quality of this product and fact it is extendable. For those whose cuttings are falling to the ground, you must use with the branch catch jaw on the side you're cutting off for it to catch the branch/rose/fruit, etc. If used on the "tree side" the fruit/rose etc., will fall to the ground. The cutting head is turnable to get the correct approach angle for the cutting.
