Solid build, nice belt mounted sheath.
Solid construction, the T handle fits well in the hand. The molded holster fits well on a belt and stays on during sheathing and unsheathing. It feels well shaped and doesn’t jar loose without a little force. The holes in the handle are nice and would be easy to hook a float to if you’re taking this on a boat. Excited to try this on some bigger fish.

Great, robust spike. Kydex sheath needs work.
This little spike is great. I have yet to actually test it, but it's very comfortable in the hand and sturdy. The edges are not sharp, but just barely so. They are very fine edges that will allow penetration but not cut you.I gave this 4 stars, because of the kydex sheath. It holds the spike tightly, and the plastic clip works well. It's aethsteically pleasing. My problem is that the kydex and last 2 rivets ride so high under the t handle that it's difficult to get out, and the edges of the kydex digs into the sides of your fingers when trying to take it out. Given this is a fish tool and not a self defense weapon that's not a big deal, you don't need to draw quickly. I still think it could be improved for better operator access. All in all I would definitely recommend this. It's awesome.

This is the one.
**Background:**so I've been a lifelong fisherman 45+ years. I have been doing Ikijime Long before became popular as in half Japanese and I've been familiar with Japanese techniques and fish processing. However, I always improvised and use some other kind of tool like an ice pic or a screwdriver that had been ground down. I recently got my first Ikijime tool and liked it.When I saw this, it definitely looked like a step up and it doesn't disappoint.First off the tool is a heavy robust stainless steel with some type of coating. The sheath is some type of Kydex like firm plastic material. It comes with a robust clip on the back. Listing is definitely built for the rough and tumble saltwater fishing world. the clip is also really strong and gives you lots of options either on a belt or on the side of a tackle box/ice chest for some kind of mounting bar.I'm not gonna get into the whole idea of to me Ikijime. But I can tell you if you're a foodie a fisherman and like you to eat your fish as fresh as possible it's worth the time to do this. It's in the middle of the winter here so I'm not fishing anytime soon so I went to my local fishmonger and got a fish to test this on from what I saw and what I wanted to eat. I found a Spanish macro Harbor it was smaller than I had hoped but in the middle of the winter, I'll take what I can get as long as the freshness meets my (winter adjusted) standards. The handle doesn't have any kind of cover. It's just the steel. It might be able to wrap some kind of cord around it if you have delicate hands or pushing into a really hardheaded fish, I really like the shape of the point in penetrates well but it also seems like it's robust and won't just snap off the fact that there's no handle is actually better for feel and you can actually feel the skull in the spinal area (it's kind of like a graphite rod with braided line you can feel at the bottom as you bounce your weight across it every little pebble, the texture of the bottom etc.). the Spanish macro was no match for this tool, very easily penetrated and made a nice little hole for ikejime wire.
